#1366336 Can we bring some real talent here?

Posted by defendyourself on 07 July 2020 - 06:50 AM

All about developing young , cheap talent so we can sell them off for a profit for RB...money ball, RB style

the thing i'll never get is even if this is true, wouldnt Hamlett be more aggressive then with intraleague trade (i.e. Tim Parker trade).  We get $750k of allocation for every sale we make so we should have boatload of funny money but Denis does nothing there either.  He just sucks.

Oh signed usynt player Jake LaCava
Barca academy former director link sounds like

he's the only one who has used he contacts to actually make the team better.  Roped in Clark and Lacava in first year.  Good to supplement our domestic pipeline which has dried up some.

Should be scouring CONCACAF for young fringe NT players who are hungry. Which a hould supplement misses from our academy.

But still need 3 legit DPs to fill out the roster.

Edit: Also, saw that Andy Najar returned to MLS. Wish we had got him.

ideally we would do both lol.  Which was supposed to be the whole point of our "Expanded scouting network" i hoped.

Two things are true:

1) i root for homegrowns because they help provide a competitive advantage to the club

2) every day all 3 DPs slots are not filled is a failure of management and unacceptable

That part of what I like about Omir's game. He takes a beating, but he's never afraid to get stuck in and draw a foul.

The beating Omir takes is different than Mines.  Generally when Omir is rocked its a foul where for Mines you get some "weight room" moments which may have led to some of his injuries.  In Omir's case  he needs to get stronger so he recovers better from matches and can last the whole season.  He started off the year brightly but didnt have enough juice to last the whole season.  Would love to see him as a second striker in the new setup.

Both of them are brave though and dont shy away from a beating which is important.

How much did RB pay for the MetroStars + RBA?
Is RB making a profit on RBNY?

Forbes estimatied we have a $6mm operating loss but factoring capital appreciation, expansion fee distribution, and SUM their ROI must be thru the roof.

in someways given the our net transfer spend and the league paying non-DP salaries i would expect us to be profitable.

Or did we break the leagues point record despite him starting 30 of 34 games?

Hes obviously a good guy on and off the field, I just think we should have higher standards.

in a league that caps the amount of international players you can sign, a domestic player like Sean that can play different roles in midfield and contribute to success is very valuable.  My bigger issue is historically we waste too many international slots on guys that aren't clearcut starters within a year.

PBFC announced they're using our training facility because they can't train in New York due to virus restrictions.

Welcome back to New Jersey!

we are WAY too nice to them.

Any chanced they are using all this slack in the transit system to expedite completion of the PATH work?

while we all laughed at this, they actually did use the slack to expedite the completion of the PATH work.  Weekend service from World Trade Center is restored.

In each group, the top 2 teams advance. 4 of the best 6 third place finishers advance.

In a 4-team group, you have a 1/2 + (1/4 * 2/3)  = 2/3 chance to advance

In a 6-team group, you have a 1/3 + (1/6 * 2/3) = 4/9 chance to advance

Really, really not fair.

easily could have made it top half of each group advances and 3 of the best 6 remaining teams.  Though the big group in theory should have worse teams and better parity at least.

we have to be signing some forward(s), because having 3/4 on the depth chart isn't realistic playing with 2 strikers.   Going from the U-18s to the first team is quite the jump, so immediate impact is questionable.  But you never know.

Yeah, he needs to realize that he cant get the ball poked from him. Sometimes its okay to pass it back to the cb.

Adams had a similar problem. BUt he grew out of it. Hopefully casseres will learn. If he doesn't then rza might need to start in his place.

I never want to see Rza and Davis starting together in the midfield again unless there is an injury.  Last year they looked off whenever they played together defensively.

that was Hamlett's fault for not closing the English striker in Scotland or any other striker prospect that they had their eye on.

fun fact: Cosgrove hasn't scored in the league since December 21st

The Pendant signing gave me hope that they will address this again in the summer but we need our legal team working on a green card.

I wouldn't mind giving Omir a shot with the front two also, since they are more involved in build-up, etc. now.  I can't imagine being in a situation where White or Royer get injured and we are starting Barlow.  Just isn't good enough.  Has to be Jorgy or Omir.

I think the current Red Bull "build from within" could work if they were more aggressive supplementing holes in the academy with international youngsters they can groom in USL for a year before replacing someone in first team.  When they signed Casseres I thought we would aggressively make signings like that every year, but it never happened for some reason. Like now they should be signing a young CB to groom because we dont have one if Long is sold soon and our good prospects are midfielders.

In terms of expectations I don't agree that any year you don't win MLS Cup is a failure just because of the luck involved in playoff formats and a salary cap league.  But given our market advantages we should be winning a trophy every other season and be genuine title challengers every year.  Last year was a failure.
