Forgot to mention it before and it probably doesn't need to be said, but Nealis was really good last game.  He clearly dropped a couple pounds and he has a very good natural feel for shutting down plays in certain moments.

And with Kaku openly lobbying for that 3/5 man back line formation, you have to figure the team will go with it again.

Looked like a totally different player, biggest difference was that he looked like he was reading the run of play instead of reacting to it. He's clearly trying to be a little more controlled and progressive in his passing too, even if his accuracy still needs some work.

Yes and I like how Kaku knows Cinti style play, Higuin is arriving and Henry is back - Like I am going to show these 2 guys what I can do

and then Yearwood is like Kante but has not played a game in 6 months.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

I am sure he enjoyed 2 CB formation 2 years ago even more, but let's see what happens. I just feel with Mines instead of 3d CB we will have more possession and be more dangerous, but maybe it's worth to keep this formation a few more times to see if they can get better at it. Especially if player/coach Kaku likes it.

the 5-4-1/3-3-3-1 worked for Jesse, can't see why it wouldn't for Carnell.

I wish I wasn't on my phone so I could like this. Three Way Chili is freaking amazing and any time I am in Ohio I hit the supermarkets and buy cans of Skyline.

Skyline is amazing. FCC not so much.

Fuck DC.

Out of necessity, we played an bunch in that formation in the second half of, I think, 2017.

Jesse definitely did trot out a 5-4-1, and it was that season.

He did use a 5-4-1, but sometimes (oftentimes?) played kemar or murillo at CB

Yeah, at least this time, with Carnell, we actually used CBs, and not outside backs playing the position in a pinch.

Kemar has played CB elsewhere, he wasn't really out of position so much as not in his best position.

you can say the same about Connor Lade though.  at some point just because you can do something doesnt mean you should do it

Lade played it in college,  Kemar did it playing professionally and for his national team.    He wasn't bad at it in a 5 back system.
