Ooof. So hard to pick JUST 4. We've had so many club heros/legends play for this team, both Metro and RB. My heart would love love love to put guys like Savarese, Amado and have Petke, Mathis, Howard and Robles as a shoe-in.

In no particular order, you have to put

Henry

JPA

BWP

The last one can either be Petke or Clint.

tough call. Really struggling.

Totally. But that's why these threads are fun once every so often. You could rack your brain for a little bit and come up with a Top4 of:

American players

Central American/Caribbean

South American

European

African etc

RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.

RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee

This should have been a poll. Or a bracket.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Henry
Mathis
Petke
Marsch

Feeling solid with these. One GOAT, two Metro-RB bridges, and the 3 guys who helped redefine the club to itself.

I'd go with Petke, if only because we need a defender... and now that I think about it, it would HAVE to be Robles

OG fan Mark Fishkin went way back to the early MetroStars days to unveil one of the all-time great MLS names. “Rhett Harty became a cult hero in the early years of Metro when he shaved his head after NY lost back to back games in June 1996. The team responded with three straight wins, and the hard-nosed defender kept his Mr. Clean 'do intact for the rest of his MLS career.”

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

The obvious answer to me is John Wolyniec, with Luke Rodgers behind him.

I was in elementary school during the early days of MLS, so I had literally never heard of Rhett Harty until I read this.

Harty and Woly aren't bad choices, but Gio Savarese is the first name that comes to mind when thinking of a Metro cult hero.  He was the beating heart and soul of this team in its early years.  I still remember how shocked I was when I heard he'd been traded as part of that whole Lothar Matthaus deal.

No love for Cordt Weinstein?

This is a cult hero.  Not fair bringing in guys upon whom religions have been established.  :)

True story: I asked Cordt Weinstein after a game (one of the 2 he played in) if he is Jewish.

He is not.

We had to settle for Jeff Agoos... :(

Ive been a fan since day 1. It wasnt hard to make the metro hall of fame or mount rushmoore prior to 2010. I mean Mark Chungs name is on that section by the luxury boxes of RBA for fks sake.

Heres mine:
Amado,TH14, BWP, JPA

He should have answered Yes!

I loved JPA but him over Robles, Petke, Marsch?

What are we gonna be scrapping to banter over in 4 weeks? Hopefully the emerging plans to have some semblance of a season.
