Robles had his contract option declined by Inter Miami...
I thought we were the only ones that fire our captains

Miami let quite a few go:

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Bummer for Robles, guess they didn't want to take the risk on him recovering from his injury

Look like Miami were 3W-2T-10L with Luis in goal,
4W-1T-4L with replacement McCarthy.

After all the bitching last winter I think it's pretty conclusive that letting him go was the right move. Not that Miami's shitty season was his fault but Meara definitely the better goalkeeper at this point and obviously a lot younger and cheaper.

I might question the "better" part, but in any case I think we can do better than Meara, sentimentality aside. We have bigger roster issues elsewhere, of course. After all the bitching last winter I think it's pretty conclusive that letting him go was the right move. I wouldn't mind robles comming back and becoming the gk coach. Or gk coach/backup
Suddenly there is an opening ...
Did he keep his house up here?

They just fired Burpo to make room for their guy, so.... unless someone thinks Robles is the guy they made way for

I thought Burpo left to go to Austin.

I read it wrong. We just know it's rumored that he's leaving, don't know the circumstances

Robles can still play, but he's due quite a bit of $$, iirc. So he may have to take a pay cut to stay in the league?

Until we sign Alisson we can always do better. That's the nature of playing in a mid-level league.
By expected goal numbers, Meara was a top-10 GK in MLS this season. Robles was one of the worst. It's not really close anymore. Meara is significantly better.
