Went to many of those friendlies. Remember the international friendly and Metrostar doubleheaders back in 2002. Remember seeing Rangers FC, Santos, Boca Juniors.

I was there that night and remember nothing about it.  After reading your write-up, I understand why!  A night best forgotten.

Best moment of that season was the comeback win against Tampa Bay with the Gio bicycle kick.

Ha ha, great memory. Thanks Dan.

Fiorentina (which had some strong teams back in the day) put on an absolute clinic.

Two things stood out to me. Rui Costa was absolutely amazing, putting through ball after through ball in the path of his teamates. It could have been 10-0. The other was how professional they were as a team. They worked hard and didn't loaf as one might in a friendly against a weak opponent. Even Batistuta who was a god back then came all the way back to defend on corner kicks and then hustled back to the middle of the pitch. I learned a lot in that match of how the game should be played (there weren't many Euro games on TV back then).
