Stefano Bonomo, who had a couple good seasons the past couple years with the USL team was waived.

Did not look good at all this year with the USL team. Statwise not terrible: 3 goals and an assist in 11 games. Two goals came a couple weeks ago, then he came on down 3-0 with ten minutes to go last week.
Got his one minute of first team time though.

Ends his tenure here as one of the few players who played in each USL season.
Regular season stats: 55GP, 38 Starts, 3510 minutes, 21 goals, 7 assists, 100 shots, 52 shots on goal (top in club history), 4 yellows and one red.

No "thank you" or "best of luck". Wondering if there was a falling out...

Interesting... have to think someone else is coming in, otherwise why drop a player now?

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. "There's so much you can accomplish in the soccer world, and right now I'm focused on having a good season with the Red Bulls. Ultimately, our goal is to win the MLS Cup, and I see no reason why we can't." - #4 Tyler Adams

Perhaps he asked out, if he is not getting enough playing time. Would he be losing salary that way?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Yeah, this was my first thought too.  There are a few possibilities though.

1. They could want to commit more minutes to White(who does look pretty good)

2. Bonomo is realizing he's not getting a ton of minutes so he asked for the release.

3. We need the roster space for whatever reason.

We still had an open space on both the senior roster and the overall 30-man roster, so this is an oddly-timed move unless there are two signings coming.

Scored the teams 2 goals against Bethlehem a couple weeks ago and was rewarded by Barlow, Moreno and White all starting over him this past weekend. Even getting crushed by Ottawa (3-0), Bonomo didn't come on until the 80th.

Could certainly buy that he wanted out.

The 2nd team is all about developing guys.  Bonomo is going to be 26 in January so there's not going to be much development beyond that save for a few extreme exceptions.

Could he be re-signed back to the II team?

He just signed with the Rowdies.

Junior Flemmings, David Najem and Stefano Bonomo.

Florida takes our fringe first teamers that just couldn't make it.

Bonomo played one (1) minute with Metro. Automatic entry into the Obscure Metro Files. Can't wait.

He and Metzger would be good fits. Each tested the waters elsewhere (Bonomo after being drafted, Metzger with SuperDraft rather than HGP contract). Both came back and stood out with the USL team earning MLS contracts. Both played one minute of MLS action.
