#1371672 Parker on the trade block?

Posted by MetroFanatic on 17 September 2020 - 07:11 AM

Parker, on a good day, is one of the best central defenders in MLS. There is no reason to give up on good players for a pie-in-the-sky. The question that should be answered, why have his good days dwindled since 2018?

all of a sudden, he's plugged into a functional system

Us not having a functional system is the problem...

#1371576 Valot / Casseres no longer international

Have a whole winter to address the roster. Doubt anything is going to happen before this window closes.

12 matches left, by the time the player signs, gets a visa, quarantines, and gets up to speed its going to be a signing for next year anyway.

They did trade for an inter slot for this year and next. No reason for THIS YEAR, unless they plan to use it?

MetroFanatic, is this the first time in club history that multiple goalies have contributed to a shutout?

No. The Waterreus hypothermia game: http://www.metrofana...ory.jsp?ID=4350

And this Open Cup obscurity: http://www.metrofana...tory.jsp?ID=795

Another one, Alec Dufty's lone appearance: http://www.metrofana...ory.jsp?ID=5119

#1371196 Has there ever been a Red Bulls team less exciting to watch?

Posted by MetroFanatic on 06 September 2020 - 10:18 PM

2 goals in 7 league games is officially the worst 7-game streak in team history.

In 1999, they were shutout 4 in a row, but scored 4 goals in the 3 games prior or after.

In 2009, they had two overlapping stretches of 3 in 7.

The worst 10-game stretch is 4 in 10 games, also in 2009. We can match it if we're shutout in the next game, and beat it if we get shutout in the one after.

I actually have hope for this team now.

Hope is dangerous... but it's better than where I was yesterday, that's for sure.

Did Thelwell mention what he thinks our ambitions are?

Basically, to be able to compete at the top of MLS.

Looks like the biggest question is not the 11 but who will be in the coaches box...

Could use Richie Williams right now.

For interim role, sure. For full time gig, there is a reason he hasn't risen above #2 after 15 years.

Listening to him talk in cliches last week was worse than Armas.

I would bet new coach is from Europe. Thelwell will want to put his own stamp on the team.

And yet, Hamlett still has a job... He really is the staff cockroach.

#1370749 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

So we think this roster is reasonably capable of being a top-five team in the East but is being held back by coaching? I sure as fuck don't.

Talentwise we're nowhere close to the top. But a coach's job is to put his players in position to succeed. Time after time, Armas has not done that.

This is the same thing I just replied about. A better coach would have us where? We're 7th in the East. This roster has the potential for what?

Perhaps higher. A better coach does not waste Royer at forward, for instance. Or does not tell him team to send cross after cross against Cincinnati's behemoth center backs. A better coach does not bench his only creating midfielder against Philly.
