Now that S&P has hosted the 562 Cup and VSU hosted the MASSIVE RS Champions League, it's officially time for B&G to get off of our collective asses and host one ourselves.

This is a planning and discussion thread. As soon as we have a field booked and confirmed, we'll start another thread and sticky it to announce it.

Right now, the possibilities we're looking at include:

- A field used by the Cerritos Soccer League
- Biola College (WTF is a Biola anyway?)
- Somewhere in El Segundo

We've gotten a lot shitload of people at the last two events, so we'll try to make sure that everyone gets a run.

Personally, I've been rather disappointed at the turnout at the pub afterwards, so if I can at all help it, that will be the focus, but competition for fields in the greater LA area is tough, so we might just have to take what we can find.

Bill, do you know anything about that school at Sawtelle & National ? I drive by fairly regularly and there seems to be leagues that play on the weekends and the grass always looks in good shape.

I've seen leagues playing there as well, but I have no idea what that place is. I've always assumed that since there was no big sign out front, that it was a private school.

Just down the road from there is Clover Park.

I'll be calling them tomorrow - although we'd probably have to bring our own goals.

Does anyone have access to full size/portable goals?

Hopefully we will have some new teams this year, created by new LARS members or maybe we could invite ACB.

After B&G hosts the LARS Cup, PSC Firenze can host it in OC and have a cup presentation ceremony at the B&D.

The first 562 Cup was played @ Biola. I guess that would kind of make it B&G's home field.

According to a previous thread, B&G Steve possibly has access. Mr. V's Bar & Grill is down the street, which was also where the post-match drinking was done after the first copa 562.

From what I remember the field wasn't all that bad for being synthetic grass.

I think Biola is a good option.

There is quite a few fields in the area (Los Coyotes, Sierra Vista, and a school in East Whittier). I could assist in finding out more info if need be.

If B&G is hosting this, I think it should be held in the greater Whittier area at least...

My .02.

It's B&G's responsibility to book a field. I don't know the fields in the Whittier area, and I don't have time to drive by them and check them out. If you know of a suitable field, go ahead and call to find out what the availability is, how much it costs, and what the procedure is for booking it.

Fern,

How much notice do you have to give the league that B&G will not make a league game?

Will Saturday January 17th work?

I've got 3 different parks I'm going to call this afternoon. If they're open, I'm going to book it.

If we get all our ducks in a row and get enough teams participating, and pull these events off well, the Galaxy would love to CHARGE the price of a ticket to host a supporter's cup at the HDC.

I'd say about a weeks notice. Other times we told him only a couple days before. We should be fine.
Btw Bill, your box is full.

Not everyone works at a school and can get free access to athletic fields...just sayin'.
