We need to get this done before the season's out. I'll be damned if it gets picked up in Philly or somewhere else before here. Enough people in the stands know it, do any of you capos? I am mos def for real in earnest about this. Before the season started enough folks here were down, so let's make it go. What can we do to make this happen?

Approach a Capo you know at the tailgate, encourage them to do it beforehand, find a group and go down near enough the stand to get it going when they're up there and it's the right moment to start it and get everyone around you into it. That'd be what I would do, anyway.

Someone should play it on the bus as well.

I'd be awfully surprised if that happened.

I met my love, by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream, by the old canal
I kissed my girl, by the factory wall
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

Clouds are driiiift-ing across the moon
Cats are prooowww-ling on their beat
Springs a girl, from the streets at night
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

I heard a siren from the docks
Saw a train, set the night on FIRE
I smell the spring, on the smoky wind
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

I'm going to make me a good sharp axe
Shining steel, tempered in the FIRE
I'll chop you down, like an old dead tree
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

THERE. NOW YOU CAPOS KNOW IT.

That's because you are unfamiliar.

The team has asked us if they can help get the crowd involved by putting words up on the big screen/led board. Klopas has also asked the section do a 'song' to welcome out the team. I'm just putting that option out there for this instance...What if we did it pre-game that way so everyone learns the words then, and we can repeat it later during the game?

Ok, flame me.

There are enough people who know it to have it catch on.
I'll print up the lyrics for the E&C bus for next Wednesday and for the DC match on the 29th.
How about if everyone attempts to learn in on the bus to KC?

Exactly. And how many Capo's can actually say that they know Urbs well enough to lead it now that Liam isn't here? It took us forever to get Urbs where it is now and it still isn't near as good as it could/should be. That said, give me a sheet with the words (cuz I will have zero chance of memorizing it by next Sunday, let alone before then) and I'll give it a go.

What if the team played it over the PA before the game and/or before the half?
That would get people familiar with the tune and tempo - lyrics might be a bit much.

They play "Forever Blowing Bubbles" over the PA before and after every West Ham match and everyone in the park knows it and sings along.

I'd think they'd be open to it, though there are tight restrictions on the content/timing of PA announcements as I understand it.

At Brighton, the marching band song Sussex by the Sea is played before every game. It's cheesy as hell but it's been done for decades and gives me chills every time, and gets everyone going.
