The Next LARS Pickup Game

With a lot of people playing in leagues, etc. I'd like to try to get another one in before the holidays are over. This is also our best shot to get a field while leagues are in between seasons.
So here's the idea:
The Bar - Joxer Daly's (I should buy stock in that place)
The Field - Mar Vista Park. It's artificial turf/full field and < 1 mile from the bar (that's very important you know).
The Date - Saturday January 3rd or Sunday January 4th
The Teams - B&G, S&P and VSUFC
The Format - Old Skool B&G pickup game rules where two teams play for 20 minutes, and then the winner stays on the field. If tied, the team that has been on the longest comes off.
If we booked the field for 3 hours, we would have enough time for 8 - twenty minute mini games which still allows a few minutes in between. Winner and 2nd place are the teams that wins the most games respectively; tie breakers are determined by who scored the most aggregate goals.
They have not yet booked any games for 2009 at Mar Vista Park, and it's off season. I'm going to run by the Mar Vista Park office tomorrow to pick up an "application". Please don't ask me what I put on the "application" and I will tell you no lies.
I'm interested in everyone's opinion, but just so that we don't draw this shit out for 6 months, I'll let the team captains speak for their teams.

And you need a catchy name for this one to separate it from the 562 Cup.
How about the
LAX Cup

I probably won't make it, dad's birthday weekend and we'll have family in town.
[Not to take your thread hostage, but I talked to the people at Lynwood park today and they said that winter is the best time to get a field. Summer/Fall is AYSO season, and spring is maintenance/reseeding season. I promise you, the people of LARS, this much: Next year, if we have 4 teams well established (B&G, VSUFC, Wolves, and S&P) we WILL have THE BEER LEAGUES.]

Of course, B&G should get an automatic bye into the semis as the Regional 562 Champions...

For those that haven't been to Mar Vista, it's an awesome field. Parking might be an issue, but being that it's "off-season" it probably won't.

I put in an application in today. and requested either Saturday or Sunday from noon to 3:00 PM.Sunday would work best for B&G. Our Saturday league should be starting up again around that time. I'll find out for sure soon.
They said "You should receive a call in a few days when your application is processed".
Will ask for a Sunday if they have it available.

LARS Champions League? I would be more than glad to set this up, with refs and all.
Teams: (in alphabetical order):
1 - B&G FC
2 - S&P FC
3 - VSU FC
B&G vs. VSUFC
B&G vs. S&P
S&P vs. VSUFC
Rules:
1) 11 v 11
2) Unlimited subs
3) 30 minute halves
4) Every team plays each other once
5) 15 - 18 player roster to be submitted for all to see, so we don't have any "surprises"
6) FIFA Rules (offsides, etc.,)
7) $150.00 per team (or more if you like) winner takes the pot.
8) I'll even throw in a trophy.
Point System:
6 points for a win
3 points for a tie
0 points for a loss
1 point for a shut-out
1 point for each goal scored in excess of opponent's score (i.e., differential) up to 3.
Deductions
-1 for each red card/sent off
-0.5 for an accumulation of 2 yellow cards
Tie Breaker:
In case of a tie after pool play, tie breakers will be used to determine winner:
1) head to head
2) fewest goals allowed
3) most wins
4) shots from the mark
Team with most points wins tournament, bragging rights as LARS Champions League bad asses. I can make it happen this weekend or even next, or both to make it more interesting.
Just say the word, and I'll make it happen, I can make it happen this weekend if you like, I have access to the school anytime.

I have access to the school anytime.
Wait a minute before you crown Gunner as the new Jeebus.
You mean to tell me you had access to this school all this time and you made us wait a whole YEAR and end up playing in Lynwood before you shared this bit of information with us?
I call shenanigans!!!

I call shenanigans!!!
I do have access, they normally have a league there however because of construction the league had to move and the field is free...it's available for us to use especially during the holidays.
Sounds to me like you S&P might be afraid of some real competition. **cough**
