Didn't Papa Trump play soccer in high school?

That would be anti-make America great again!

Don't worry Brian I think (think) that most people on here are rational adults who can separate a father from his pre-pubescent son and not blame the kid for the dad's transgressions. It's just a funny coincidence

Turning down twice as much money starting in DC, to be a back-up in Denmark, in hopes of a bigger payday with some other European club?
Good luck with that.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I can kind of understand. He'll be 27 in a month. If he doesn't do Europe now, he probably never will. Worst case scenario he'll be able to come back to MLS in a couple of years.

Either he quickly establishes himself, or he can quickly come back.  MLS will always be available to him.  Have to give the guy credit for pursuing the dream.

Does DC retain rights to him?

Hes not going to be a backup in Denmark. At least he doesnt think so.

By the way, Perry Kitchen tried a similar move. Ask him how that worked out.

The article I read (maybe on ESPNFC) said he was going to be the starter in Denmark, and that he turned down a Bundesliga offer because he would have been the backup.

Picking on a kid because you don't like his father and posting about it on a Metro vs DC thread with no provocation whatsoever is simply pathetic. Also, Mr. Trump is the President and seeing the tears on a random place like the Metro vs DC thread is lovely, keep it up! Wah wah wah! :D

I think it is an amazing move by Hamid and even better that he's going to Midgetland. They play some entertaining high-scoring stuff so he'll get plenty of chances to make saves, and they were the flavor of every soccer journalist's month a few years ago due to their whole analytics approach in getting a team together. So the fact that a team like that wants him is nothing but good, and even better that they are in first place right now. Realistically this is nothing but a sideways move but if you are going to move sideways it's not a bad team to be going to at all. That's MLS for you though, realistically he should've been gone 5 years ago and would have if he was from literally any other country.

The team already has a starter, who has been on the Danish National Team. So, there are hurdles for Hamid.

IIRC, if they get a xfer fee, no, if they don't, then yes.  But it's MLS, so....
