#1359318 RBG strategy/philosophy for NY

Posted by TK_RBNY on Yesterday, 05:51 PM

Were swimming in MLS funny $$$ like Montgomery Burns. Its a dereliction of duty to not use it.

You cant fool NY fans into thinking you are actually serious about winning with this current squad and investment.

They are going to the 2s. Most of these guys might not even stick, Loebe was drafted last year and is already gone.

Now that this distraction is over, Denis can focus on the rest of his roster building

2 DP attackers.

1 CDM & 1 outside back that can start and win you games right now today.

Easy. Now just do it.

Exactly. Striker, CM, Winger, and Fullback. 3/4 or 4/4 ready to step into the starting XI

4-2-2-2

White/Royer- #9
Kaku- winger
CCJ-CM
Taxi-Long-Parker-Duncan (new FB)
Meara

4-2-3-1

#9
Royer-Kaku-winger
CCJ-CM
Taxi-Long-Parker-Duncan (new FB)
Meara

Dont worry the draft is Thursday. So nice of the league to give Hamlett an opportunity to do all of his work at one time.

thanks
it is funny the post is in French from ManU fan twitter about a transfer to NYRB - lol !!  silly season

any over lap - Was this guy above or below Matthew Olusunde in the pecking order for U23 Right Back?

Looks like he started at both RB and LB for the ManU u-23
started at RB over Olosunde and LB when Olosunde was in the lineup

Still unfortunately think they are looking to have 6 months scouting and analytics group before they spend any more $$$$

What is the definition of spending $$$? Are we talking about more in line with the rest of the league (i.e. Kaku) or outside acquisitions in general?

If thats the case then how is the team filling out the rest of the roster? Draft picks and RBII promotions?

Punting a season because the SD is incapable or too gun shy because of the Jorgy miss.

Not being honest with the fanbase when a few days after the playoff debacle vs. PHI, the SD promised to get things right.

Not that we all arent used to this organization being duplicitous with its supporters.

#1358390 Hamlett is in so far over his head

Posted by TK_RBNY on 29 December 2019 - 11:35 PM

This guy is just a joke.  He literally has no clue on how to do his job.

I cant even balance him because he has no training, no qualifications and no experience to do his job well.

How long will it be until this embarrassment is fired?

Is there any doubt the guy was a figure head to replace Curtis after Marsch got him axed?

While Curtis had philosophical differences with Marsch and how RBG wanted to operate, its clear from his time in Toronto that he knows how to operate as a SD.

Jesse was calling the shots on player acquisition until he left . There are multiple transfer windows of evidence at this point.

The guy jumped from asst coach to sporting director

#1358298 First offseason rumor: Insaurralde

Posted by TK_RBNY on 27 December 2019 - 04:26 PM

I want this guy to step in and be ready to play a lot of minutes. Signing guys is great, but we need immediate contributors.

Walking into 2020 with a 75-80% similar starting XI from a 6th place team in an improving league is not good.

#1358286 First offseason rumor: Insaurralde

Posted by TK_RBNY on 26 December 2019 - 11:48 PM

At this point I'll take anything, but:

  • Hasn't appeared for the Argentina U20s since March
  • Had 29 minutes for San Lorenzo in the first match of the season and hasn't made the 18 since

Seems like a potentially high cost, little reward move.

Just saying that if we're going to drop a 1.5M transfer, let's drop it on someone who is actually contributing to their team
Fair to be concerned especially with Jørgensen last season.

Played in a few more matches the season prior, but looks like San Lorenzo have a few more experienced players they brought in that play the same position.

Geronimo Poblete a 27 year old DM on loan from FC Metz
Juan Ramirez a 26 year old CM/AM recently purchased from CA Talleres
Lucas Menossi a 27 year old CM recently purchased from Tigre

Plus they have the Romero twins now with Oscar occupying a CM spot in 3-1-4-2.

Tough to come by minutes considering the circumstances

Can hope that the new head scout has his fingerprints on this, as he was well regarded in his previous stops

Tenorio article in the Athletic with Armas says we are targeting 2 outside backs and a #9.

Need more than that

Its morbidly hilarious how other clubs are announcing big signings and our digital team are putting together elaborate schedule releases and videos highlighting our new eMLS player.

No doubt, running back the same front four from the end of the year is foolish.

This squad and manager produced a #6 finish in the Eastern conference, and mid table overall in the league...not good enough. There has to be talent added on to the roster, and if we are to believe Dyer the team is looking for a new #9.

Sims is a cop out signing IMO, we know what he is so hes not moving the needle from where we were at the end of last season. Im fine with him occupying the other wing spot, but we could have set our sights higher.

I think Royer continuing to be on the squad makes things messy, hes not an effective winger anymore and would be better utilized as a 2nd striker. If youre planning on bringing in a new #9 that relegates one of him or White to the bench.

If you want to run a 4-2-2-2

Royer/BW - #9
Kaku- Sims
CCJ- #6
Taxi (New LB) - Parker - Long (Tarek)- Duncan
Meara

Im worried because Hamlett has a month until pre-season starts and we still have to address first XI holes, potential exits of Long and Taxi and their replacements, and depth especially along the back line where the team is very thin.
