#1355265 2019 NYRBII USL Thread

Posted by Brian.MLS on 16 October 2019 - 09:05 PM

Final 2-1, before the 4th minute promised while we were on a break. Ball went to Jorgensen so he would have missed anyway.

1 freaking point in the last 5 matches. Our front 4 has been garbage.

Updated Standings:
1. Pittsburgh - 65pts
2. Nashville - 64pts
3. Indy XI - 63pts

4. Tampa Bay - 58pts
5. NYRBII- 57pts
6. Louisville - 57pts

So, crazy playoff scenarios as we enter the final games this weekend:

A loss and Louisville win or draw we are at Indy. A Louisville loss, we are at Tampa Bay.

A draw and Tampa Bay draw, we are at Tampa Bay. If Tampa Bay wins and Louisville wins, we are at Indy. If Tampa Bay and Louisville lose, we host Tampa Bay. If Louisville draws and Tampa Bay loses, still host Tampa Bay based on GD.

A win and Tampa Bay and Louisville wins, we are at Tampa Bay. If Tampa Bay draws, we host Tampa Bay. If Louisville wins and Tampa Bay doesn't get a win, we host Louisville.

Wonder why they were not able to form a closer partnership with Rough Riders.
(I know people think they have just the coach for the LI team:-)

We partnered well with them in the Metro days often calling guys in on short notice when we had a short bench.

Since we have our U23s in USL2 they would compete against each other, also NYCFC tied them up now.

Former academy player then NYRBII player, Danny Bedoya ended up with Long Island, impressed during a scrimmage and landed a contract with NYCFC, so they have some hooks there now.

With yesterday's results, we wont have to worry about the play-in matches. We also are guaranteed to not finish first or second.

Standings as of 10/12. All teams have one match left, except us.

1. Pittsburgh: 65pts/68max
2. Nashville: 64pts/67max

3. Indy Eleven: 60pts/63max
4. Tampa Bay: 58pts/61pts
5. NYRBII: 57pts/63max (1 game in hand)
6. Louisville: 57pts/60max
We can't finish lower than 6th.

Can finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th and will play one of those teams in the playoffs. Louisville can only get to 4th tops.

We are at Birmingham on Wednesday and Loudoun on Saturday.

#1355101 Etienne tweets about snakes... then gets loaned out

Posted by Brian.MLS on 10 October 2019 - 02:52 PM

I think the biggest concern I have with Etienne is that he was given plenty of competition for a spot between him, Muyl, Ivan, Fernandez, Epps, Valot and Mines and could not break through to solidify a spot.

If that didn't motivate him, even with the amount of time he was given, I'm not sure he lands in MLS.

We said similar things about other HGPs (need more time, shows sparks, play well in USL) that never land in MLS (Kassel, Hot, Allen, Metzger, Moreno, etc...).

As bad as encroaching to the game-winning PK.

Or having a player without any MLS goals in over 100 appearances take a free kick from just outside the 18 down 1 on aggregate in stoppage time.

And lost it.

Not a popular opinion, especially with people who haven't been through the Metro era with this team, but I'd rather make the Cup and lose it than not get there at all.

At least, as a fan, there will be something to be excited for which happened only 3 times (1 MLS Cup, 2 USOC Finals).

#1354494 Upcoming CBA

Posted by Brian.MLS on 24 September 2019 - 06:38 PM

Items I would include:

* Dissolve Single Entity
* Hold PRO accountable for poor officiating
* Charter Flights
* Eliminate Leagues Cup or offer significant financial compensation
* Eliminate GAM/TAM
* Change SuperDraft to 2 rounds then allow teams that field a USL team to draft up to 4 additional players.
* Offer additional roster spots for teams with USL sides (similar to MLB 40 man roster)
* Similarly get rid of Senior, Reserve, Supplemental roster spots.
* Elminate Discovery Player and the compensation to other team if a team actually wants to and can sign the player
* DPs shouldn't be paid more than an entire teams payroll. Fix the pay structure.
* Move free agency to 25yrs old with 5yrs experience

Sims will be 23 next season, so yeah, he would count 200k against the cap rather than a regular DP's cap hit, unless they rewrite the DP rules and stuff like that in the off season.

With the upcoming CBA, there are going to be A LOT of changes to the league.

I have a hunch Robles may be out for this one. Hunch only.

* Team usually releases the Injury Report a day or so early and hasn't for today. In the past that has normally meant a key player being out.
* Louro wasn't in the 18 for NYRBII last night.

Glad I was wrong

Well that figures. This would be the year I'd be glad to see guys leaving the team.

Shep basically said we should just shut the fuck up and be ok with doing nothing and being an "underdog" every game.

Fuck off Shep.

I read this as "Hamlett is awful. Red Bull is cheap. Can't blame the coach for that."

That said, when every player outside of one or two look worse than they did the previous year, that's on the coach.
