#1444740 Emil Forsberg lack of synergy

Posted by Arsenal14 on Yesterday, 12:50 PM

On the pitch or between players, sure. Ill take tunnel fights, trash talk, media barbs about other teams, etc. all day.  I just dont care if a player is a crappy husband or father (as long as hes not abusive).

The WAGatha Christie drama was the funniest thing I've seen in sports in years, I'd be thrilled if MLS had its own version.

#1444603 Is Vanzeir a bust?

Posted by Arsenal14 on 24 March 2024 - 10:47 AM

In fact, look at Vanzier's shots during this game. He had wide open looks and probably should have had a hattrick but missed the net.

The team's xG was 1.23, they scored 4 non-Vanzeir goals, but he also "should have had a hat-trick?"

Like...come on man. Be serious.

3 games, 5 assists.

Close the thread.

Reyna made two nice passes to feed him.

It is ironic that Reyna saved Berhalter from all the haters by playing amazing in OT.

It's really the best of both worlds as a Berhalter skeptic.

The US won AND you get to shit on Gregg for being bad at his job.

I would love this signing.

But my big hope is Radamel Falcao García.

His contract is up to in June. He's said he doesn't want to play in Colombia. I think Metro can swoop in and sign him. He'd be the striker we haven't had in NY since BWP

I get it for the nostalgia, but like...man's started one game in the last year.

If he wanted to play for $200,000, sure, sign him up.

All 3 MLS Next Pro teams lost their opening matches on Tuesday against amateur opponents.

Good.

The center forward in this system has to score a couple of dozen goals a season for the system to be great.

No one in MLS does that, much less someone in this system that is mediocre at creating regular high-quality scoring chances.

Bouanga and the Greek guy in Atlanta tied for the league lead in non-pen goals last season with 17.  Asking for 24 from any one player is unrealistic - last time anyone did was 2019, when Vela and Zlatan both hit that mark.

#1443988 MLS TV moves to Apple

Posted by Arsenal14 on 10 March 2024 - 10:37 AM

I don't remember them showing a good angle on Burke's offside call, or a good angle of the Dallas goal going through our wall.  It's just a question of how much money Apple wants to put into the production, and it looks like they want to show these games on the cheap.  I also don't like the commentator, can they find someone with a little personality and a sense of humor?  Give me more Lloyd Sam, or bring back Shep.

MLS is in charge of the production, so blame the owners, per usual.

Lloyd Sam's kicking around - he was on the Columbus - Chicago game last night.

V's got that Millenial softness and entitlement.

We've moved on to the Zoomers now, Millennials are getting into their 40s.

Marco Reus is looking to come to MLS.  He's 34, and has been injured a lot lately.  I think he's more of a goalscorer than Forsberg, although he's not an out and out striker.  I guess you could put him up top with Vanzeir or Manoel, or he could drop into midfield depending on substitutions and injuries or whatever.

If he's healthy and would take a two year deal, he would be a good pickup.  Although ideally I'd rather get someone who is younger.

Yeah, let someone else make that mistake.

Can't be signing expensive players who aren't available - that's a death knell in this league.

Though Reus has been mostly injury-free for the last year or so.  Too risky.

#1443790 NMR: Other MLS games

Pissed away the best team in MLS history (at the time) and has been an objective failure everywhere else he's been. Tinpot manager.

He did a very good job of turning around a D-II program.

Maybe he should try that level out again.

I haven't watched a single game of the tournament this year since every game seems to be on FS2. Not paying extra to watch these games, especially when we aren't even in it.

A bunch have been free on Tubi.

#1443404 No MLS in 2024 Open Cup

Posted by Arsenal14 on 29 February 2024 - 12:08 PM

It's funny how MLS is crying about "congestion" but avg about 38 games a season and then many teams dont play games for almost 4 months.

And a whole bunch also get a weeks-long break in the middle of the summer when they get dumped out of Leagues Cup.

It's all a load of bullshit.

#1442893 Season Predictions

Posted by Arsenal14 on 21 February 2024 - 10:29 AM

It's all going to come down to our players staying healthy.

We get a healthy Vanzeir, Morgan and even Ngoma and add Forsberg and a fast winger I'm Gjengaar. If healthy (big if) it may be enough to score goals which is all the team really lacked last year. If the defense/defensive mid, which all starters remain from last year, prevent goal scoring like they did last year, we could be looking at a surprisingly great season. If Gjengaar fills the speed and disruptor role Barlow played with an ounce of scoring ability, that will be another huge help to the team.

If any one of Vanzier, Forsberg or Morgan can't stay healthy, I don't think guys like Mitchell, Hall and Burke will be enough to keep us above the playoff line.

Completely agree with all of this.

This is the dumbest fucking pissing contest.

Stay in the tournament and run out a squad of whatever clowns you can muster under the rules, lose immediately, and fuck off if you don't want to participate.  Withdrawing the entire league just makes a very vocal part of the league's fans irritated.

Like, look at the team LAFC threw out against Monterey Bay last year.  That entire starting XI had 15 league starts, combined, in 2023.  No one cared!  Just do that!
