The record inbound transfer fee in Poland is about $2 million. We aren't selling Klimala for that cheap, so a return to the Ekstraklasa isn't on the cards.

But they would take him as a loan. If you cant sell him, then you loan him out to clear cap space. Plenty of teams will take a chance on him.

MLS rules, at least the public version, are wishy washy on what roster/cap relief you actually get by loaning out a guy like Klimala. It basically reads as if its rare enough that they just make things up on the fly. At minimum I'd guess you'd need to find a team that's willing to pay the majority of his salary, which for more modest Euro leagues isn't chump change. Especially for a guy that's only there because he's struggling in MLS.

Loan of a Player by MLS

A club may loan any player from its Senior Roster or Supplemental Roster to a non-MLS club, subject to League discretion. During the loan period, the club will receive roster relief but not Salary Budget relief unless otherwise determined in the loan agreement.

MLS just make things up on the fly.

What? No way!

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

No Ekstraklasa team is paying his $1.1 million salary.

But let's say Klimala is delusional enough that he is good enough to play for Poland and is not gonna get in playing here. So he asks for his release... or a loan... something... And we will that spot with a proven striker, as well as Fletcher's spot?

I'm dreaming, right?

Ideally, at this point just loan him to...Glasgow Rangers.

It doesnt matter. Another euro team will take a chance on him. Just because he is a flop in MLS,does not mean other euro teams will not take a chance on him. 1.1 million in salary in Europe is bench player money for any of the top 6 euro leagues.

Loaning a player to another league for roster and cap space relief has been done multiple times by other MLS teams. Miami chicago and Atlanta have recently done this

Fletcher who is way worse is making more money in Europe.

Lol no it is not, but more importantly, what club in a top 6 league is going to try and take a guy who has failed in Scotland and in MLS on loan at any price, much less a 7-figure one?

It's not that it CAN'T be done, it's that a loan move is a three-party decision. You need to have a team willing to take Klimala on loan at his full wages to get it off the books here, and he has to want to go. I'm hard-pressed to think of a team in Europe that could afford Klimala that's eagerly seeking a striker who can't finish.

If Salzburg wants to do some fun accounting tricks, like Chicago did with Aliseda to Lugano, that's one thing. But an open market? I'm not confident.

Man City took Mix Disgerud off the Smurfs hands. It's been done before.

Is there any indication that Red Bull is willing to do that, or even that they're trying to get Klimala out of New York?

According to Statista, in 2019-2020, the avg salary in Premier league was $3.9 Million, La Liga is $2.75 Million, Seria A is $2.23 million, Bundesliga $2.05 million and Ligue 1 $1.54 million.

Again, Klimala's salary is not a lot compared to European standards. he makes $1 million.  the difference between us and those euro clubs is that we need him to be the guy who can score 13-20 goals a season. he will most likely end up with 7 to 9 goals which is what would be expected from a non-DP forward but for a DP that is a disappointment.

In Europe, he will not be a star or starter. he would be the 3rd-5th option on the team. teams take gambles on prospects like Klimala to see if they can unlock that finishing touch.  At 23, he is still considered a good prospect and he is an EU citizen. he still has 2 more years to prove to the world that he is not a bust. if he figures his finishing, he can be  $15-to-20-million-dollar player.

my position is that we can do better with a journeyman MLS striker as the starter. if we have to dump Klimala at an of these euro clubs to bring in an established striker from Europe or South America. then you do it.
