I think we have a good chance at winning this cup. Charleston (the host) should have the advantage, but I think we can beat them, Toronto is beatable, and if we can tie or beat houston, a cup can be in our trophy case. What yall think?

also, if we win this, it will bring some confidence to the club and most importantly US!! (the fans)

Who gives a shit about a preseason meaningless cup?

The only win I would hope for is not losing any player that might play more than 5 minutes per game for us.

I used to have a couple of funny things here but I can no longer find them.

It's not like the Carolina Cup is the Lamanga Cup or anything.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.

I'm not too concerned with the results but it will be nice to see the boys in somewhat competitive competition. Does anyone know if the games are going to be webcast like I think they were last year?

I contacted the club and things don't look good for a webcast for the first match. some issues that need to be worked out and they dont think its going to happen in time. Im not sure if this was with the video or with the audio as well. They are hopeful but dont want to put out a release and then it not work out.

If it is availible this Sat., the Battery website www.chalrestonbattery.com will be hosting it. look at the website around game time (6pm and 8:15pm) and there should be a botton for the webcast on the front page.

The sad thing is, this is probably our best shot for a trophy all season... :(

I actually disagree with that. The east is not very strong this year. United have a lot of new players, and did not look good at all against Chivas. New Englan without Dempsey, a subpar Chicago team, an expansion team, a still crappy Columbus and a mediocre KC.

We have a legitimate shot at the Eastern title this year.

We too are subpar...we have, on paper, improved our midfield, our defense is still pretty good, but I would not say great, but we still have a massive, massive striker problem...to the point that we have to play 4-5-1. We will have to win a lot of 1-0 and 2-1 matches to contend. We will be in the logjam below DC, and we can finish anywhere from 2nd to last...I am thinking around 4th again...

And DC may not have looked good against Chivas, but they beat the hell out of that Honduran team in the first leg...and this new striker they have is already in good goalscoring form...

I'm pretty sure the forward was playing against his old team. Knowledge of tendencies and all that... granted, he did look sharp on the ball.
