#1340605 2019 CONCACAF Champions League Thread

Posted by Arsenal14 on 14 February 2019 - 02:17 PM

Does anybody know if Chromecast is available on the Yahoo Sports App so I can Chromecast the match to my television set from my phone.

Explicitly no.  When I downloaded the app earlier, it had the cast icon with a big red no circle around it.  Mobile devices only.

The press release above references yahoosports.com, so you might at least be able to get it on your computer.

Anyone know what channel this is on?
I know it's, like, a week away. But the thought just occurred to me.

I had read that it would be streamed in English on Yahoo Sports, but I can't verify that in their app.

Found a source saying that it will be though: https://www.newyorkr...-16-matchup-set

#1340492 Offseason FAIL

Posted by Arsenal14 on 12 February 2019 - 10:02 AM

If the goal of the off-season is to make us better than we were last year, then I think we failed.

I can see the argument for not making changes to the "best team in league history"(who didn't win a cup) but we need more edge in big games, we lost Adams and BWP ain't getting younger. Time to make moves and I just don't understand what we're waiting for.

I guess we should feel like Rza was a new signing?

I can't really see that argument.  MLS gets markedly better every year, so by not adding pieces in the winter, you're getting worse relative to your opposition.

Not adding at RW is a fail.

I'm pretty sure I've said this for the last 3 offseasons.  Such a weird organizational blind spot.

#1340337 Traitor(?) Rossi training

Posted by Arsenal14 on 08 February 2019 - 12:34 PM

I think a healthy, in-form Rossi definitely improves this team. Rossi's scored a combined 70+ goals in La Liga and Serie A.  I think he'd easily bag double digits in MLS, and brings top league experience with him.

Dude's 32 and has 15 goals in 73 games over the past 3 seasons.  He's coasting on reputation; he wouldn't easily do anything here.

Amando Moreno signs for the fire.  Think he plays?  I'm curious to see if he can step up in MLS.

They have like, 14 players, so yes.

#1339528 Club America wants Kaku

Reading through this thread,  lots of people are saying hes mad his family cant get visas.

Does anyone know what family members specifically? I follow him on Instagram and see lots of posts of him and his wife and kids, so I assume they are here with him in the states.

Therefore hes upset he cant move his parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc?

Sure, that sucks that they live in South America but if its that important to him, he should have never moved to MLS.

He needs to grow up. He took a job abroad; thousand of miles away from home. Obviously he isnt going to see his fam as much. It seems like hes just whining at this point, and expects to be sold? He needs to step his game up to make his transfer value worth it.

Argentine citizens need a visa to VISIT the United States, not just to move here.

A poor man's Connor Lade?
His nickname is "Rico", which is almost as badass as his last name.

Rico Buckmaster.  I love it.

I hope he responds to everything people say to him with "hell yeah, brother."

Rece Buckmaster is a pretty cool name

He sounds like a hunting rifle.  I'm here for it.

Easy chant of "You Got Bucked" when he makes a good tackle too.

#1338819 2019 Schedule

Posted by Arsenal14 on 08 January 2019 - 12:38 PM

Saturday March 30th Away at chicago at 1pm Est is awesome.  SeatGeek stadium is only a few miles from Chicago MDW airport and they run game day buses from the Chicago MDW airport "Orange Line "L" train" stop. So basically a bus to and from the airport and I have points on southwest to easily cover the fare. The early start time will allow me to fly in, go to the match and fly home the same day.

Those buses can be really inconsistent.  I waited an hour for one for the USWNT - Brazil match this summer and it never showed.  I had checked the CTA website; they should have been running.

If you get there and the bus is not there, take an Uber and hop out when you can see a path to walk to the stadium.  You might have to scoot down an embankment, but it's better than waiting 45 minutes in stadium traffic.

9/15 at Seattle and 9/18 at Portland looks like a really fun away trip.  Definitely going to look into that.

Jonathan Campbell would be a worthwhile pick for actual squad-building reasons.

David Villa would be a worthwhile pick because it would be pretty funny.

If we don't beat them by 7, I'll be disappointed.

#1337496 Who to root for in MLS Cup 2018?

Posted by Arsenal14 on 03 December 2018 - 07:44 PM

Depending on the result of MLS Cup, either Portland or us will play Atletico Pantoja of the Dominican Republic in the first round.

That's a borderline automatic quarterfinal spot.

I'm rooting for Atlanta.

#1337433 Adams to Leipzig official

Keyword in this press release is "transfer" and not "sell". I doubt we are getting any significant kickback for this. I could obviously be wrong though, maybe Austria will be willing to sign some bigger checks this January.

MLS almost always uses "transferred" instead of "sold."  It's bizarre terminology, but they're pretty consistent about it.
