#1346586 Metro - Cincinnati Game Thread

I hope never to see 3 CB formation. 4-2-3-1 has worked much better for us. With 5 defenders we just look inept in midfield, barely creating any scoring chances.

We scored 3 against LA, the first two of which came while using a back 5.

I think the issue is more the 4-man midfield with 1 forward.  I prefer a two forward set with a back 5 - it allows for a little more positional fluidity.  And that is not a setup that this team is built for at all.

Killer end to that game.  Hope Kemar doesn't see any discipline for putting hands on Villalba's face, but I love the fire regardless.

If Martinez stopped playing and fell down when he was impeded by Parker instead of getting that shot off while falling, we'd be calling him a diver and a cheat

Right call for a foul by the last man, credit to both Martinez and the ref for playing and calling it correctly.

Direct your ire at Taxi and Parker, both of whom misplayed the ball in the build-up. Schoolboy defending.

Right, but the red card is given for DENIAL of a goalscoring opportunity.  That's the literal language.  If the chance isn't denied, then how is it a red card? It's not "impediment of an obvious goalscoring opportunity."

Besides a Round of 64?

Staggered entry, giant R64/128, whatever.  Anything to avoid MLS v. MLS play-in matches.  Those suck.

With 21 US clubs at this point, there should be a play-in round of 10 MLS clubs, to generate 16 MLS vs. 16 lower level clubs.

They already did MLS qualification rounds in years past, and it sucked shit.

The fun of a cup is to play teams in other leagues, and eliminating teams through intra-league matches totally douses that fun.

Enter with all of USLC or otherwise get the field to 41 before throwing MLS (23 US teams next year, allegedly) into a Round of 64.  Interleague matches are the spice of this tournament; make sure there are a ton of them.

And while we're busy reforming this thing, give lower division teams right of first refusal to host against MLS teams.

If we hold on, this might be the funniest result I've ever seen us get.

Chris Armas, squad rotation genius.

Yet another goal where Murillo is just standing around. Dude should never see the field again for this team.

What's he supposed to do, plow through Ferreira and concede a penalty? That's on Nealis.

I don't think it's tone deaf. Jesse March and Tyler Adams were always leaving the club. If RB Leipzig didn't exist, they would have just left for some other random European team. The fact that they are still associated with the team is pretty cool IMO.

Adams would have.  A whole lot less certain about Marsch.  The list of American-developed managers who have gone abroad* is what, three guys long now?  Bradley, Berhalter, Marsch?

* - guys like Wagner, Caulfield were raised in Europe, so they don't count for this

Generic Forward? Whose that? Sounds Finnish....

Gènèriç Förward is actually a Franco-German guy.  Unheralded.  6'2"ish and unskilled, but can get to the right place when asked.

Have we looked much better than NE? Coaches are being let go with less to work with than Armas. Its time.

...yeah, a lot better.  They've given up 30 goals this season, including 18 in the last 4.  They lost consecutive matches to Philadelphia and Chicago by 5.

We're underperforming our talent.  New England was in full mutiny.

Murillo is an easy vote for me. The drop off in his play is ridiculous.

Same.  Ivan sucks, but Murillo has been awful in a preventable way.

Yes, quite a few baseball fans have sued, based on injuries far more serious than anything the KC fan has.
Usually courts rule that the ticket is a contract that puts the liability on the holder for any injuries due to balls entering the stands (because it says that on the back,) but sometimes they let a jury decide.

Were those based on deliberate actions though?  I haven't taken Torts, Contracts, or Sports Law in a while, but I'd imagine that the argument would go a little differently for, say, a bat that slips out of a hitter's hand and hits a fan versus a player throwing his bat into the crowd in anger.

There really isn't an excuse for Armas being the coach tomorrow.

As much as I liked Titi as a player for the gunners and on French national team and a true Red Bull player I don't think it is good move at this time. The loss of Tyler Adams  to transfer to RB mothership cannot be overlookedor injury to Taxi or shitty play by kaku this season.  Armas needs more time to right this ship. If fail to make the playoffs then he should be definitely out or cannot make it pass one playoff game. Then it would be time for a change. I think it then come down to Titi or Woly.

The shitty play by Kaku is directly linked to Marsch's departure/Armas's promotion.  If Armas can't get production out of the club record signing, that falls on him.

Mikey started at a small Dutch club,
parlayed that into a lucrative career.

He was also 18 years old.  Long is 26.
