We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Ives is battling Covid right now. Let's all wish him the best

"They better keep playing that RB Arena update because that unbuilt stadium is the only positive thing about this soft-drink-selling, coached-by-a-dumbass, trading-good-players-for-shit, hopeless, retarded, club." - MetroFanatic

"It was always six weeks away. Every month, [Nick Sakiewicz] would say, we're six weeks away from the stadium. It's been the longest six weeks of my life." - Mike Petke

"I think every country can learn everything about each other. If the whole world can be together, it can be good." - Mathias Jorgensen

"I want to give you lots of titles for your happiness. Lots of hugs.” - Fabio

Miami Heat basketball team is opening up 2 sections in the arena only for vaccinated fans - wonder if RBNY will try something like this:

The flip side to this is that even though our daily # of new cases keeps rising (and is approaching last March/April's numbers which led to the shutdown), our daily # of deaths is significantly lower than last year. Could be because many at risk people have already been vaccinated, could be that we've developed natural resistance to the disease. Whatever the reason, it's important to point out since many media reports have painted this bleak and soon to be apocalyptic view of NJ, whereas I think we're far from that.

Typical media bullshit. Fear equals ratings.

For the two shot vaccines you get about 70-80% effectiveness about a week after the FIRST dose. Additionally your odds of dying after just that first shot are minuscule.

NJ currently has about 28% of the population with that first dose in arms and is doing 1-2% points daily. If everyone decides to get the vaccine then NJ could get to 100% of that metric in two months.

Im most concerned about hold outs on the vaccine. Im not worried about anything else. We need to get to herd immunity as quickly as possible. Stop wasting air time to pump up your ratings and use that time to educate people off the science behind the vaccine and how they can get one if they so choose.

The former is disconcerting; the latter reassuring.

Population of NJ is 8.9 million

30% of NJ has first dose.

16% fully vaccinated.

First dose plus warm weather is probably enough to really kick this thing in the crotch. Still probably two months away.

Medical community changing their tune about % requirements for herd immunity. Now up to 90% required. That will be impossible unless children start getting the vaccine (trials are underway). For instance NJ has about 2 million kids 18 or younger.
