Somehow Royer still doesn't have a green card...

International Players 1 Egbo, Mandela International 2 Jensen, David International 3 Jorgensen, Mathias International 4 Pendant, Jason International 5 Kaku International, Designated Player 6 Royer, Daniel International 7 Rzatkowksi, Marc International

So two open inter slots, two DP slots, 4 roster slots... We're set!

Not that we are going to do anything with those two open international slots but it's good for when we play US Open Cup games hopefully next year and we have those two (if they are still here or not injured) in the starting 11 for us.

still weird AF that Royer is still an int'l. could be his choice though, obvs.

the funniest part of this is that you are charged the minimum senior salary charge for every senior roster spot less than 18 that is open.  So we are paying ~160k of cap charge to keep the slots empty.  literally are better off just signing a couple extra homegrowns or draft picks to the senior team than keep the slots open.

Yeah per Google:

In general, the Austrian Nationality Act does not allow dual citizenship except for persons who obtain two citizenships at the time they were born (e.g. a person born to Austrians living in the US acquires both Austrian and US citizenships at the time of birth).

Green card is not dual citizenship.

You are, of course, right. Not sure why Royer doesn't have one yet then.

For him, The biggest negative to get a green card would be that he would be required to report all the income he makes worldwide as a resident instead of the income he makes in the US. So he would have to pay more taxes.

This is incorrect. If he is living here and working in the US (and here for a period of years) he is a full US tax resident because of the days he is present in the US for the length of the season. As such, he is required to report and pay US federal income tax on a worldwide basis. It is unlikely that the US-Austrian tax treaty would change this result. The benefit of not getting a green card is that you can give it up (assuming you have it for eight out of 15 years) and not have to pay the expatriation tax. However, green card allows you to live and work in the US on a permanent basis regardless of your occupation.

If only we could do something with these spots. So far we giving away good international talent, like Sims, not adding more.

In researching values of international slots (it's all over the place, peaking at 175K), I found this gem:

In February 2019, DC bought an inter slot from Portland for 200K:

https://www.timbers....money-dc-united

The Portland Timbers today announced that the club has acquired $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) in 2019 and $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2020 from D.C. United in exchange for a 2019 international slot.

In August 2019, DC sold an inter slot to Minnesota for 50K:

https://www.mnufc.co...ernational-slot

Minnesota United announced today that the club has traded $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) to D.C. United for an International Roster Slot for the 2019 season.

Hamlett might not have a clue, but at least he didn't do that...

Likely making another international move if we acquired the INTL spot for Muyl.
That would give us 10 slots (had 9 from a permanent trade from Houston back in 2009).

It also means we aren't gaming it like we did in the past (send a player to the USL roster for a game or two, then switch them out).

1. Egbo
2. Jensen
3. Jorgensen
4. Kaku
5. Pendant
6. Royer
7. Rzatkowski
8. Tetteh
9. Yearwood
10. ????

MLS's roster age now lists Yearwood, but does not list him as international. Weird.
