Big round of applause to the South Ward for the energy last night. I brought 10 people to the match, a few were first timers, and they all loved it. Our supporters matched the effort of the boys on the pitch and it was a really proud moment to see it all happen together.
A note on the baseball fans....
I sit in 127 and I'm the loudest and most obnoxious person in my section at every match, but I do my best to keep away from too much swearing and keep it classy (though at times unsuccessfully). There were a few scattered baseball fans around me and not one of them complained during the match and I caught a few of them laughing at the cracks. But the second I went up at halftime there was a whole crap-load of young boys in blue drunk and angrily chanting directly at people. There was a baseball fan sitting right in front of me by himself for the match who came up the steps behind me and actually told me that he was disappointed with how weak their supporters were in the first half. The look on his face when he saw those boys and them some others come along and do the same was sheer horror. He left about 10 minutes before the match ended with his head down. It's one thing to sing and have fun during the match, but when you start directing energy at other fans it crosses the line and that's when problems happen. The display by the baseball supporters group as they were leaving the stadium was downright hideous. Tons of them yelling and screaming nonsense. Our security needs to be more aware and have a few extra bodies next time the baseball team comes to see a soccer match.
