"The Red Bulls exercised options on defenders Kyle Duncan and Sean Nealis, midfielders Sean Davis, Kaku, Jared Stroud, Daniel Royer and Florian Valot, as well as forward Tom Barlow."
I think Kaku was reupped for sale.
Bit surprised about Barlow - but he is cheap for depth. Also interesting they kept Royer - I bet its that he's Austrian!!!

Jorgen$en 4eva!
I'm baffled as to why he's still on the roster.. The Designated Player spots should be for MLS Allstar or MLS MVP caliber type players not guys that maybe have played a total of 80 minutes the whole season because they can't beat out competition on their squad

Hes not a DP, his contract wasnt up so there was no decision to be made at this point in time. Doesnt mean he will be here next season.

Too expensive for a guy who isn't a lock starter, we've been flirting with cutting him every year since he arrived.

They have to still be looking for any team that will take him for at least a fraction of what we paid. And that can't be easy because he's awful.

Not too worried yet. Cutting some of these guys straight up would be a bad idea versus trying to sell / trade them. Happy Rza is gone though, tried his best here and did a good job but isnt good enough for the job now.

Pleasantly surprised they didn't age-out Royer

important thing to remember they can still cut guys i.e buckmaster they will have an expansion draft where players could get moved. They very likley I would lean towards certainly are picking up some options with plans to sell or trade playersToo many kept, hoping for some secondary moves to purge more dead weight
