KC has one of the better defenses in the league so playing at home in a cup final goals are going to be very hard to come by.

That means our defense needs to post a cleansheet and quite frankly I just don't see that happening. At all.

Give BWP a chance to get the job done on the other end :)

ehh

Our O is productive.  D will be improved by Collin.

I did not see us coming back from down 2-0 the other night.  I

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Star-Ledger ran the AP report:

Website then linked a local follow-up from the Jersey Journal:

Didn't see anything in the NYPost.
NYDN also picked up the AP feed:

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I always dig these All Access things.  Shows a ton of behind the scenes leading up to and the game itself.  The link above is for the Cinci game.

Much to the chagrin of some.

I'm happy we won but let's call it what it was. Cincy is a middling USL team that scored TWO goals against us.

We aren't going to put 3 past one of the best defenses in MLS in their house during a cup final. It's not going to happen.

And if we let Cincy score 2 how many is KC gonna put past us?

The streak we're on is great but it's been against subpar competition who have still managed to get way too many good looks on our goal.

The defense is still a huge liability and it needs to be addressed.

We only gave up two goals, with mostly backups playing earlier this season at SKC.  And the guy that scored twice for them is playing in Orlando now.  This will undoubtedly be the toughest match to this point in the Open Cup (we'll be deserved underdogs), but it's not insurmountable.  Lower division teams win or almost win Cup matches, it happens.  Is Chicago never going to score another away goal this season because they couldn't score one against a middle USL squad in the Open Cup?

0? 1? 2? 3? 4? All are possibilities... It's soccer.

I'm just saying I've seen this all before. We all get so high on a win that we don't look at what's wrong and what is going to cost us lifting a trophy. And that's the goal right? What's the use getting to a final if you can't win it?

Everyone is so over the moon about our recent run of form and beating a USL squad that they aren't talking about what a horrible defense we still have.

EVERY SINGLE YEAR since Marsch has been here we haven't been able to stop the counterattack. We've given up tons of goals against the run of play since he's been here. It hasn't been fixed. I want to see it fixed. It is quite literally the only thing stopping us from being one of the best teams MLS has seen in a long time and we've said this same damn thing 3 years in a row. I'm sick of it. They need to figure it out and defend better.

Well you have to assume that Colin will be back and nearing playing form when the final comes making it a back three of maybe Escobar, Colin, and Long with Murillo and Lawrence playing wing backs.  On paper that seems solid.

You do realize it is a game of 11 v 11? There are vulnerabilities to any formation and the No1 threat to the high press is the counter.

I am too tired to do the work on it, but my guess is that over the last 2 1/2 seasons we have one of the top records. We are one of the best MLS teams.
