Ok, I guess I'm getting old and losing my vision. I still don't see it. I do see Klopas on the left and Novak on the right, a lot of white space and then the top of the laurels.

Look UNDER the Klopas and Novak in the red circle directly beneath it.

:D

The stained glass surrounds the patch. I almost forgot--I see that statue everyday, Liam. Perhaps s8ot to the statue? lmao.

That's just a recast replica. The real statue was about 10 times the size.

My eyes are welling up. Just beautiful. Could we acknowledge a double on the name Wright and include Richard along side F.L.? 'Native Son', etc. He made the front of the State Library in Springfield.
The F.L.W. stain-glass touch is sweet.

Another historical footnote to the general area of the stadium. The Marx Bros. lived on a farm in LaGrange from 1917 to 1920. Their mother moved them there from the south side, in order to minimize their risk of being drafted into the army for WWI.

The Marx farm house was located north of Joliet Road and East of LaGrange Road.

that's cool.

Next time WB05 wants more Black Panther Party names on there. Maybe some early union activists. I can talk your ear off about famous people from the Chicago Lager Beer riots.

Maybe WB05 will make our own sign with famous Chicago anarchists, bomb-throwers, and general miscreants. Really though, I'm not kidding about the Black Panthers though... I'm down.

No problem with Fred here. My brother and cousin (good, wholesome irish-americans) spent some time at BPP headquarters. Before the assasination. Better Hampton than Hanrahan.

Gotta love the Marx Brothers info.

FYI I did a stained-glass theme wallpaper using the coat-of-arms image. It's very nice, subtle, and I should be able to post soon once I correct the lead-line error I just spotted.

Liam,

I only ask because I don't think it would be THAT hard but can you do the desktop version with a bluish layer instead of the Red one. I would like to put it on one of my desktops at home but I don't like red backgrounds. Thanks.

I like that you got Royko in there. Journalists are probably the coolest guys around.

Milton Friedman was cool, and due to my personal bias I always like to see him get props. But the list you have is just fine by me. I noticed you also left out Capone, Terkel, Akroyd, Belushi and Muddy Waters... but like you said Liam, there's only so much space and so much time in life. And thank God no one is pushing for Kayne or Billy Corgan to be added to this list. (I like them, I'm just saying...)

We should make this logo into circular patches to be sold and worn.

also I got to thinking... if you include Milton Friedman from the UofC, then you probably also have to include these U of Chicago professors:

- Gary Becker, Noble-prize winning economist
- John M. Coetzee, renown author and Nobel prize winner
- Enrico Fermi, Nobel prize winner too... father of nuclear energy... in fact you'd have to add a few other Chicagoans from the Manhattan project. We invented nuclear energy after all.

And we don't have the time or space to do all of that with this patch. So I say keep 'em all off!

Muddy Waters and Enrico Fermi are both on there. In fact they are next to each other.

Jason I'll do a bluish version, and a whitish one for good measure.
