Jesse wins the double... obviously, the LASK deduction helped but they have a 13 point lead on them now (would have been 9 without deduction).

They sputtered in the league prior to the covid shutdown but credit to Jesse for getting them to fire on all cylinder once the season got going again. Not easy when doing the double is basically the bare minimum but they played some impressive stuff. Especially losing Haaland and Minamino. He'll have to continue to rebuild seeing as papa Leipzig is taking away Hwang Hee Chan to Germany.

102 goals for Salzburg in 30 league games which is absurd. Thats 3.4 goals per game!

Still boggles my mind that some didn't like him here.
We will be lucky to have a coach as good in the next 10 years...

I think it was more the way Petke was treated.

I'm a huge fan and he's the best manager we've had but he wasn't flawless by any means...Still boggles my mind that some didn't like him here.

-"This is an energy drink" - hardly a great intro, especially after replacing Petke
-Late and often questionable subs (Zizzo on during the cup final is the spectacular example but there were many)
-Didn't really have a plan B tactically
-Never won MLS Cup obviously
-Left midway through a season
Of course the last three are hardly his personal fault. Hopefully he comes back here after winning multiple Champions Leagues and a World Cup with Team USA

I always went back and forth on this one. Marsch mixed things up tactically way more than he gets credit for, switching formations and trying new late-game strategies pretty regularly. Some worked OK, none of them enough to push us through the playoffs.
I think what he was really missing was a plan B in personnel. When teams figured out how to minimize BWP's impact we were toast because we went years signing backup strikers that were nearly identical in style to BWP. I think what Marsch really needed was a bruiser he could build a more direct game plan around, something like a prime Alan Gordon. I was hoping Abang would grow into that role but that's why I'm not a professional scout.

him switching to the 3-3-3-1 was good and it worked a bit.
you're spot on wrt Plan B and personnel.

All fair points. Substitutions are actually the one aspect where I feel Armas has a leg up on him and I'm no Armas fan (who is?).
