I don't know where you can see it (maybe nowhere till DVD, it was in like 10 theatres for a week) - I saw it in a hotel over the weekend. But see it. It's not the best movie ever but it's pretty damn good and well worth searching for it. Besides, I want people to whom I can make references to other than my brothers.

I saw this in the Theater when it was out. A friend of mine tipped me off. It's crazy but also very entertaining. Just make sure you charge up on your electrolytes before you go see it.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/

I need to see The Departed again just to be sure, but I think its safe to say those two movies are in the discussion for best of 2006.
I havent seen Blood Diamond, but I don't really want to.
V for Vendetta is probably on there as well as Pirates.

Haven't seen Pirates, no desire to see Blood Diamond. V for Vendetta was entertaining and visually interesting; but for me it's between The Good Shepherd and The Departed pretty directly.
Although it would be FUCKED UP if DeNiro won a directing award before Scorcese. DeNiro might literally refuse on stage.

I wasnt putting up V or Pirates for Best Movie or anything, but as far as movies I would get on DVD from 2006, the list is pretty short, although Beerfest is on there too.
I think De Niro would definitely step aside if he won. It's all moot, as I'm pretty sure Scorcese actually directed The Good Shepherd, kind of like how "George Clooney" directed Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
