Checking out www.ba1850.com, it looks like they are a few glory-hounds that want to take over 138 for their own.

What's worse? Their season tix are $180 for the year.

They are all still idiots.

tm

sucks that they only pay $180 for the season. that's like $10 per game.

i do love their chants section on their site. there are no chants. no wonder that corner is so quiet.

hanging out with Charlie Davies = 1 life and 2 years in prison
oh but that's cool he scored two goals. that's way more meaningful.
:pint:

Of course goals in a soccer game aren't as important in the grand scheme of things as life-altering or -ending tragedies. Nothing I've read has convinced me that Davies was at fault for anyone else's injuries, though. As I understand it, he chose to get in a car with a driver who would have known she shouldn't have been driving. Stupid move, which he knows. He's responsible for that, and for its consequences to his health and career, and maybe carries some secondary culpability for not trying to discourage the driver from taking off. I don't think he's ultimately responsible for the fact that his friend senselessly lost her life, and I am sure that whatever negligence he displayed was the result of everyday idiocy rather than malice or a lack of caring. In terms of the outcome, of course, that's not relevant. He knows that, too, and is sensitive to all of this, I'm pretty convinced of that.

In other words, I feel like there's room in this case both to acknowledge and sympathize with the family of the girl who passed away, and to be sad about that, and also to be supportive of and even happy about Charlie Davies' efforts to reestablish himself as a player.

Not trying to pick a fight, and I certainly understand that some people probably don't feel that way, and I would be interested to hear reasonable disagreement. Maybe elsewhere, though, as I'm afraid this reply is already too much of a thread derailment...

Granted it was opening day for the newly "promoted" club but that Vancouver joint, a temporary home no less, is off to a flying start. Aside from the location, I actually like the temp better than the new place. Of course, once BC Place it completed I might change my mind but Empire seems a bit more homey.

Oh... and the Goats defense looked horrid. If that's a sign of things to come, they might set a new standard for goals against.

the mountains in the back of the stands looked really nice too. even though its a temporary field, it is better than a few of the MLS stadiums that are around right now.

I was sitting in church today and in a moment of quiet reflection, I found myself thinking about... Jimmy Conrad

More specifically, his goal.

It wasn't spectacular - just a nice bit of skill to turn and strike ball in an almost elegant manner - the kind of beauty that only comes from someone spending his life with a ball at his feet.

It helped me remember why I love soccer so much.

It's a rare day that 9ronaldo9 defends me. Nevertheless, it's well known that I'm an attention whore and I'm not arguing that.

But the "green hair thing" literally was $1200 worth of booze for LARS the whole season had the G's won. They lost, I lost, therefore we lost. And as you can guess, I'm not afraid to be embarrassed. In fact, it's a daily occurrence.

Kevin Hartman would be my player of the week. I watched almost all of the matches this weekend due to free preview of MLS Direct Kick.

Don't know if I will spend the money on the package though. I am on the fence.
