Think abt it. Rb does not need him to be successful. However, if he was to buy into rb philosophy he could be successful and replace muyl. This could be a very low risk move if lag is stuck paying his salary, MLS wins since he is a big name that stays in the league, and gio is entering his prime.
The goal would be to get him to his 2016 form when he scored 14 goals
We are in the New York Metropolitan market. There are 11 professional sports teams, Broadway, bars, restaurants, concert venues...its a fact of life that NYRB is competing with all of that. This is New York where there are just too many things competing for eyeballs and butts in the seats. Look at attendance for the Islanders, Devils, Mets. Even NYCFC has declined every year. Other markets are not like New York.
To be honest... congestion is also playing a huge factor. It's rare for mta trains to work at full speeds, and sometimes it can take a full hour just to get out of Manhattan traffic.
Just the other day it took me 3 hours to go from Newark to queens. That long of travel will deter any nyer from making the trip to Harrison.
If nyc got another team in queens and in brooklyn... they could easily avg 25k a game since those teams will be much closer to home.
We all love Davis and he'll be starting for RB for years to come. But a NT callup would be nothing more than a reward for being a good MLS player. USMNT needs more than sideways passing and a decent defensive motor at CM. He hasn't even flashed his good shot for a couple of years now.
Sure, but Delgado and roldan dont even have a shot
I would have said the same before this call-up simply cause I figured he'd keep flying under the radar, but now I feel like there's a chance he'll start to get some international attention. Especially considering he's actually still getting better.
If we had gotten Long earlier in his career I fully believe he'd have gone for a Miazga-esque transfer fee.
Agree, college and Seattle played him in the wrong positions. He would of been much better if he came through the red bull system.
You're underestimating Adams. If McKennie is good enough to be a lock starter at Shalke then Adams definitely has a real chance at earning himself playing time at Leipzig.
And your underestimating Leipzig's midfield. The team is stacked with guys involved with the German national team, german youth teams, and Bundesliga vets.
He is not going to beat out the German national team vets. If they are developing guys, the German youth players will win playing time since they wont count as foreign. His only shot is to beat out the guys that have consistently played in the Bundesliga.
All I am saying is let him dominate MLS before he moves on. He hasn't shown that he can shut down a team in the same manner that mastroeni did when he played for the miami fusion or how armas did when he played for the fire. When he goes abroad, he needs to be good to start at that moment
I wouldnt mind seeing Arsene Wenger as usmnt manager
At this point, we need a manager who will trust our youth players and play an attacking style that will make folks proud of the team. The big names like bradley or Altidore are no longer needed. And any other manager might bring them in to boost their individual stats instead of looking at the long term health of the usmnt program. Maybe have Henry as an assistant or usmnt Olympic team manager
They cant just call him up. We arent their USL affiliate.
When I say call him up. I meant they tell rbny that they need him and transfer him over in one of the transfer periods.
Folks are acting like he is dominating MLS and he is not. There is still room for improvement since MLS is still challenging him. From a development perspective, he will develop more here, right now, compared to a bench position in Leipzig or playing for their reserve team.
