A thought I wanted to share, but Robles has been poor on the last 3 goals given up (2 vs Van, 1 vs NYC). I know Parker caught most of the blame for the marking on Watson on those 2 corners vs Van, but if you watch the replay on those goals Robles is off in no-man's land leaving the goal completely open. And then last night, yeesh. He's got to get down quick enough to get a hand on that.

A couple more thoughts:

  • We used to say "Villa's in Miazga's pocket, Perrinelle's Pocket, etc."....but he's made Long look bad in 2 of the last 3 matches at Yankee Stadium. Turning him inside out on the game winner last summer, and Long basically forgetting Villa's on the field on the goal last night and leaving him more or less unobstructed to receive the knock down from the NYC Norwegian guy and move towards goal.
  • Why did Armas take so long to make all of his subs? I have no issue with who he put in (wouldn't have minded seeing White get a shot), but why is he waiting till the 91st minute to make his last sub????
  • I would prefer to see Kutler as the 2nd RB when Murillo isn't available. I love Lade, he's one of our own, but I think Kutler offers a more complete game and I think we could've used his attacking skills on the right wing last night (especially given how much the attack was focused on the right wing in the 2nd half)
  • Heard this while listening to the match on Red Bulls Radio last night and thought it was worthwhile sharing on here, but we haven't won at Yankee Stadium since the 7-0 match.

My vote is for Taxi. His speed, work rate, and the timing on his tackles are fantastic. Long is my #2. Incredible to think we got these two guys basically off the scrap heap and now they're automatic starters.

Didn't even think to watch the highlights. Here's the video starting at 3:46 with Muyl dribbling into traffic rather than laying it off to DE7 or Royer. Watch Royer's reaction. The dude is pulling on a jersey and screaming like he usually does when he scores.

At the end the video cuts back to Royer for a closeup but it cuts off on this link. But I remember him last night first saying "Jesus" and then "Holy Shit".

I get being annoyed/disappointed with Muyl not passing or dribbling into the corner to kill off the game, but for the sake of team chemistry and the optics, he can't be doing that.

Yea, the Royer freak out at the end of the match after Muyl dribbled into traffic rather than passing it to Royer or DE7 was CRAZY. I've seen Royer throw his hands up in disgust/frustration after Muyl makes a poor choice before, but sweet baby Jesus was he heated after the whistle blew.

And then it looked like Long was pissed off and/or yelling at Valot as they walked towards the bench on the team's Twitter Live feed.

Overall not a good vibe to the end of the match. I don't know if it's just a bit fatigue from all the matches being played in this window while we're a bit shorthanded or if the guys were frustrated that they didn't do a better job of closing out the match and made it an unnecessarily nervy ending. Or worse, if guys are legitimately not getting along and not able to keep it together on the field.

I could also be reading way too much into all of it and need to find a hobby. Who knows.
