We might have to be patient with Tommy Meyer. Was I happy that his very first play was a handful of jersey in the penalty box? Not especially. But I still like him better than World Cup star Andrew Boyens.

I can see why Robbie Keane has endeared himself to fans and teammates everywhere. If you're going to whine for the ball every play, then you'd better finish when you do have a good look. Keane over Angel is still always going to be worth it, but I can see him wearing out his welcome tout suite if he doesn't back up the attitude with accomplishment. Someone tell him he looks like Thierry Henry when he pulls the "The ball, she was not perfectly placed, how can I work under these conditions" routine.

RSL is good, it just wasn't our night, and I'd rather have this game happen to us on Sunday than in November. RIP home unbeaten streak.

And there it is..

"This game is on me. It's my fault. I should have used fresher bodies. We hit the wall and made mistakes that are attributed to fatigue. The travel, the two games this week added up to being a pretty tired team over the last 20 minutes, and it cost us the game. I take full responsibility for that."

-- Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena after the defending champion fell at home, 3-1, to Real Salt Lake in its 2012 season opener. Arena started nine players who played 90 minutes in Wednesday's 2-2 Concacaf Champions League tie at Toronto

Things that were awesome:

1) It's good to be back.
2) Edson opening his 2012 scoring by running to our corner, celebrating and kissing the badge. LARS POTY and he still knows it.
3) Speaking of which, I was buying a car and missed the pre-game, but Omar and Klein hanging out rocks. (Two) of us. If I wasn't happy with the reason I was gone I would be really bummed I missed it, and still kinda am.

I was encouraged for the first 30 mins or so, we looked like we were in control of the game and it was just a matter of time before we put them away. That bicycle kick series was intense, and credit to Rimando, he was absolutely nails. It seemed for a while like RSL was playing the old USA role of steller goalkeeping and hoping for the best, and I was sure we were going to punch one in eventually and do the "coast to a win after we score" thing again.

The breakdown after that has been analyzed plenty.

I am a little bit glad that the home unbeaten streak is gone. This isn't 2011, and they aren't going to win just because they show up in Galaxy uniforms. I'd rather get a wake up call right now then later on. There is enough veteran leadership on the team to respond to a game like this in the correct manner, and I trust Bruce to keep a level head and lead the way for the players to dig in and do the work. Most of these guys have been through the rodeo enough times to not panic.

It does suck that we have to double down our efforts with such a short turnaround for Wednesday. I hope the group gets fresh enough legs by then. They all seem to share in the feeling that Weds is the big game, enough of the players comments have been of the "It sucks but Wednesday is the important game for us" variety.

Thankfully the next one after that is home, on Sunday, which we can hopefully be near 100% for.

I hope the backline works itself out, missing Omar is going to make some of these margins a lot closer.

Three things that took the piss out of me on Saturday.
1.) The loss/home unbeaten streak ending.
2.) Keane. Put up or shut up you pasty fucking bastard.
3.) Play until you hear the whistle.
While the team, it was more than just David Beckham, was standing around arguing with the ref, RSL countered and score a goal.
I say the G's get rid of Keane in the transfer window and pick up a defender.
Buddle is back and we know what he can do.
I trust Brucey.

As long as Keane scores goals when he whines, I don't really care. A few observations:
  • He had plenty of chances in good spots.
  • You want good service? Show up for preseason?
  • Beckham knows Buddle. Beckham doesn't know Keane.
  • Beckham knows Magee. Beckham doesn't know Keane.
  • Keane doesn't know Beckham, LD, Magee or Buddle.

I don't think Keane will pull a JPA. This team is set up quite well for him. However, he may find himself watching E-Bud win the golden boot and Magee take runner-up while he draws the best defenders away from them. Works for me.

I believe it's been at least a couple of hours since I pointed out that off-season Euro-loans are worse than the Ebola virus and syphilis combined. So I'll do that here.

2nd. sarvas hit crossbar (becuase rimando is short and immobile)
3rd. magee bike (rimando was good)
4th. buddle goal

RSL had 2 oppurtunities.
1. own goal
2nd. we didnt play to the whistle
3rd. they caught us on a substitution.

It was just one of those games.
