A bunch of old players cash the Indian Super League checks. I don't blame Cahill for doing it, too.

He previously signed with Millwall. I don't think it's about the money, though I'm sure that doesn't hurt. The guy clearly just loves soccer. If he's happy then good for him.

Billy Walsh had a great 1999...

The worst season in league history vs the long-awaited Shield? A tad different definition of "great"...

i think i still have the sign that Serg ripped out of his hand.

best part about RBNY U23s and FC Motown was that we spotted Billy in the crowd.

HA.

On paper, yes but my gut says no.  I'll never forget being at foxboro and seeing him blow that chance in the conference finals.  Plus, he left in a crappy way, too.

Do you remember the incredible goal he did score?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I feel like if Van den Bergh is in, Cahill should be in.

Cahill was the man in that first shield season.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Timing matters (kinda like real Hall of Fames): when VDB was inducted, he was on the MF All-Time Best XI, but he has since been supplanted by Lindpere, who in turn was supplanted by Dax and Sacha. At this point, Cahill is probably not even on the Second Best XI...

And yet, the key player to get us our first real trophy. Don't know. Tough call.

It was not a sitter. We all would have loved for it to go in.

I'm torn because after his killer 2013 season, he kind of sucked and has been an asshole in comments about the team ever since.  Lloyd Sam had an incredible 2015 season, but I don't think I'd give it to him for that season alone.

There's something special about the 13 shield though.

Frankly, since I am merely a fan and a not a fancy American soccer writer, I'm going to congratulate Wright-Phillips on a well hit goal. If I was an American soccer writer, I'd claim that the recently retired Henry was wearing an invisibility cloak and carried the ball into the net for the obviously unskilled Wright-Phillips.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.
