Seems like they already have the coach they want, just wont say who for now. Something I hate about this team. Always keeps things hush hush and wait for last possible minute.

I don't even think that's the club.. Think it's MLS.

As for the CB, wonder who it is.  Thinking more, it makes sense that it could be a long term answer.  Baah was here to be a long term answer but now that's completely gone and both DP and Collin are older.  Long will be here for a long time(heh) but we need the 2nd guy.

Andrew Jean Baptiste is brought back into the fold ;-)

Wondering if they further try to sign Borges or another HG.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Sekagya...kill two birds with one stone.

Honestly have no idea, but my expectations aren't high given we are probably shopping for a depth piece, not a starter.

You can never announce anyone for any job until the paperwork is signed.  Nothing's done until it's done.

The league wil let us spend up to $250K on Baah's replacement.  It doesn't mean they WILL go that high, just that they can.

From reading the article I got the impression everything is done with the nee coach. Doesnt really matter, the new player will only be a depth player and the coach will probably be irrelevant with Jesse in charge.

Curious, where's that number come from?  If so, that's a good number.

What we need are more loose lipped moles (sources) who pass on the info to the press in a timely manner, haha.

Ahh, putting him on IR was a good bit of business.

KNowing that, we should go out of our way to get the long term answer.  250k in the first year of a long term deal can get you a really good player.  Then next year you let someone like Perinelle or Collin go.  Probably gonna have to buy out Baah as well.

Can't insert an image for some reason. But here's the text on the rule.

Budget Charge for Season-ending Injuries

The club will remain responsible for the injured player's full Salary Budget Charge. Clubs may execute a trade to create budget space in order to sign a Season-ending Injury Replacement Player. This is the only circumstance in which a club may trade for Salary Budget space.

MLS clubs are only able to receive budget relief (paid out of the club's own pocket) for a season-ending injury under the following parameters:

  • The injured player must be earning at least $100,000 per annum.
  • The injured player must have suffered the season ending injury prior to the close the Primary Transfer Window and the new player must be signed as of such date.
  • The Season-ending Injury Replacement Player may earn up to $250,000 but not more than the player who suffered the season-ending injury.
  • The club is ultimately responsible for the payment of the replacement player's salary (which will not be charged to the club's budget).
  • MLS clubs will only be allowed to sign one such Season-ending Injury Replacement Player a year.

So I read it as the injured players salary still hits the cap, but the replacement players doesn't as long as it's under $250k. Also, pretty sure Gulbrandsen is the replacement. The replacement doesn't have to be a direct positional replacement. I also don't think Baah's injury is really season ending. Probably could have been back by the summer. Pretty confident that they put him on there for more roster moves instead of waiting a few more months on Baah.
