#1444283 Let's continue to complain about average players who are no longer here

Posted by Metrohoboken on 19 March 2024 - 02:18 PM

You have a point there. I am just amazed how incredibly incompetent Schnider has been as a GM. I thought Thelwell was bad, but on top of the damage Thelwell did, Schnider further downgraded CDM (CCJ), RB (Edwards) RW (Luq) by replacing the players he lost with inferior ones. Did not improve biggest weakness (striker). The only major positive is that papa Red Bull gave us Forsberg, who wanted to come to US, but seems like synergy more so than Schnider's brilliance. If he had just maintained the level of what we already had (not by keeping these players but replacing with equivalent ones or dare I say improved?), adding Forsberg via synergy would have made us so much better. Just frustrating to see, that's all.

Huh? 2-1-1 this season even though we got embarrassed last game
Still need 1 more high end cucho Diego Rossi level player or firmino griezmann

could be a good thing we got stomped this bad in showing Fo that this team just can't win things at this point.

Bad thing is it really shows how bad our CM depth is.

Amaya
Edelman
Stroud
Donkor

Agree good message to team coach and front office
Do not agree about cm depth - it show 2 starting cm list there battles snd 1 played out of position at RW

Apparently it was 40mph gust at that exact moment in the exact right direction

Looked like a cartoon

Mls wrap up show
Cbus Imposed their will complete domination

Duncan never even looks right to the touch line on first goal even though they ran that play 5 minutes earlier
Cbus cb says hey elie this is how you pass out of the back perfect

2nd goal BWP great goal by cbus as its2v5

Edelman poor touch under not that much pressure but Morgan  does not sense player on his back who picks his pocket. Morgan turns back but shoukd have chested foward or up firld touch it to Firsberg and then sprinted into wide open right wing space
Reyes shades of Aaron long getting beat right down the center where the other forward starts 5-7 yards behind and just motors past him
Elie does not do or told not to step to players in midfield - his open field defending can be improved in Red Bull style . Sean Nealis probably wouldve fouls cucho if he couldve got to him in time

3rd goal where the defenders ? Duncan straight asleep - Corey Burke rightly loooks at him with hands raised like what?

Big test for Amaya Edelman and not a passing grade

There are levels to this, we are clearly a cut below the elite like columbus.

Great great  game!

Shows we are clear 2nd tier behind cbus lafc (and Miami?)
Excellent lesson early in season

How does the team snd Schwartz and Schneider respond ?
All cbus forwards cucho Rossi and possibly the kid start over our 3 Dante Manoel Burke
Cucho showed why he is 25 yr old who was borderline premier league player quality obvious
Cbus starved Forsberg and Morgan first 39

This heightens the stakes for this weekend's match against Columbust. Win or tie? (Need to put my rabbit's foot down before hitting "Post.")

Tie v cbus away would be great result even if thru are on tired legs - they legit and very deep

Sources: A key MLS roster rule change is in the works & is expected to be implemented this summer.

MLS to decouple Designated Player & U-22 initiative rules. All teams get 3 u22s no matter what. Opens room for more investment

Not 100% done, but expected

Vanzeir likely back for this one. Someone mentioned to me he had to go back to Belgium for a personal matter and his last match missed wasn't really injury related.

With that, hoping Stroud moved to the bench and Vanzeir steps back in.

Coronel
Duncan-SNealis-Eile-Tolkin
Edelman-Amaya
Vanzeir-Forsberg-Morgan
Manoel

Bench: Marcucci/Meara, DNealis, Harper, Reyes, Stroud, Carmona, Gjengaar, Burke and one of Donkor/Mitchell/Hall

This but 4222
Makes me smile when people appointing Gjengarr critical piece with no first team time - excited to see if he can be half as good as elie

Earthquakes II just made a deal with a local FC to essentially partner together and rebrand. Team will now be called The Town FC.

Akin to minor league baseball model. A few MLS clubs tried this in USL.

The town ?!? Woof
Guess the crew was taken lol
Wasnt that a Ben Afleck movie?

A part of me would love to see them there, but USLC has really taken off since we last dominated that league. At the same time, we focused more on academy and growth. Based on the result against Hartford a couple weeks ago, probably better to be where we are.

Fair comment and good reminder this is not 2016 USLC

Last preseason match today against a UPSL (semi-pro) side.

First match next weekend.

Current roster:
GK: Likely a signing incoming. Aidan Stokes will likley get a lot of time with Alan Rutkowski leaving for college (UNC) in a couple months and Marcucci pushing for first team minutes.

Defenders: Juan Mina and Copeland Berkley as the right backs. Centerbacks of Juan Gutierrez, Davi Alexandre, Aidan O'Connor, and Jair Collahuazo will battle for time. On the left Curtis Ofori will start the year injured but Omar Valencia has the position solidified. Backup is likely needed to start the year. Arian Recinos is no longer academy eligible but can be signed. Bryce Lebel, a former academy player, had a great college career with Louisville and has spent some time with NYRBII.

Midfielders: Stacked. Ibrahim Kasule and Steven Sserwadda can be on MLS teams. Mo Sofo already getting first team call ups over both of them. Bento Estrela has improved quite a bit and may be a season he needs to prove he is worth the MLS spot. Rafael Mosquera has some talent on the wing as well and Ronald Donkor may get sent down quite a bit when the first team is healthy. Aiden Jarvis, another academy player looked good last season, as did Dylan Sullivan, especially later in the season. Plus new signing, Malick Dembele. These spots will likely be the biggest battle for time with the talents we have. Adding in academy star Adri Mehmeti will also be a big help. Anel Ryce also a rumor and midfield option.

Forwards: Tanner Rosborough is on a path to an HGP deal and will likely feature more this season alongside Frank Ssebufu. Likely will see quite a bit of Mitchell and/or Hall this season as well. Wouldn't hurt to add another striker. Academy striker, Pipeloore Olanrewaju is another option that might be worth giving time to.

What a write up thanks!

Well we are now dealing with a gale watch for Sat evening. No way we get over 10k in seats.

Current forecast calls for rain, 44 degrees, 10-20 mph winds.

Thanks now I just need to not show this forecast to my girlfriend. Lol
