Ecuador vs Colombia @ RBA, Tues Nov 19, 8pm

16 October 2019 - 01:07 PM

Another overpriced international friendly coming up.  If they are going to keep charging ~$60 (with fees) for the cheapest seats, they really need to limit these to one per year.  I feel like this is the 3rd time Ecuador is playing here this year.

I didn't use the Red member presale and I probably won't go unless I find a groupon or something cheaper. I don't put much stock in these pointless friendlies, and Ecuador is more likely to get blown out (they recently lost by 4 or 5 to Argentina) than they are to win

2019-20 UEFA Champions League

03 September 2019 - 07:06 PM

Groups are set, with a couple of good storylines to follow for casual CL fans like myself:

Group E: Can Jesse Marsch navigate Salzburg out of a very tough group (with Liverpool and Napoli heavy favorites to advance)?

Group G: Will Tyler Adams feature heavily for Leipzig in a well-balanced but winnable group? (Benfica/Lyon/Zenit)

Group H: Can Christian Pulisic turn around Chelsea's regular season woes? Will Tim Weah play the role of spoiler for Lille and send Pulisic packing?

Last year I won a nice chunk of change betting on Liverpool to win the CL in a pre-season futures bet. This year I opted for Atletico Madrid (23:1 odds) as they have a similar formula to Liverpool last year (relying heavily on youth rather than overpriced, over aged "super" stars).  I did throw in a smaller hedging bet on Juventus as well at 11:1 odds (I think Ronaldo still has a lot left in the tank and can single handedly will his teams to victory).

So...who ya got?

Petke was fired by RSL

You really think our current owner - the north American sporting face of a global multi billion dollar conglomerate - will look at a guy fired because of a very public and borderline homophobic rant, and say "yeah that's the guy I want people to think of when they hear Red Bull" ?

No local outreach by the club

(wasn't sure where to post this so I went straight to BTDH)

This weekend in Newark there's an Ecuadorian street festival (music, food, drinks, kiosks). It's taking place adjacent to Newark Penn station (in other words not very far from our stadium). You'd think this is prime real estate to have some RBNY presence - street juggling team, reserve players signing autographs...hell even Red Bull girls selling cans of the new RBNY special edition can.

Nope. Nothing here. Seems like yet another wasted opportunity. Attendance from NY fans will be tough for the next few years given the PATH situation, but the majority of people at this festival are NJ-based - the club should be jumping at these opportunities to promote the team.

Ecuador vs Peru @ RBA, Thurs 9/5, 8pm

15 July 2019 - 10:53 AM

These people are out of their minds with these ticket prices. Cheapest seats are upper level corner seats for ~$67 including Ticketmaster fees. Hard pass on the flip and on attending. I'd expect to see some groupon deals later on.
