We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Seems like a stretch. Is The Sun reputable?

Not really reputable, no.Seems like a stretch. Is The Sun reputable?
But if he is signed by City, he'd be No. 3 at best and a long-term signing a la Miazga, and even less likely to break into the first team given what they paid for Ederson and how good he is.

I wouldn't wipe by arse with it.

I wouldn't wipe by arse with it.
I'm not an expert on British media but I had a feeling this was the answer.

Yeah a price tag of 7-10 million... Man City is paying a heavy premium to try and get in on marketing to USMNT fans.
If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

BeIN The Xtra just discussed this, naming Berhalter as the source.

honestly i don't see it. dude is too error prone to be a US#1 but maybe that changes over time. good luck to him i suppose

Good luck to him. No brainer to get paid even if he's never realistically going to play for City. Expensive long-term insurance policy for them if he improves drastically and Ederson gets hurt or sucks all of a sudden.
Courtois spent two years on loan before securing a spot at Chelsea when Cech got old. Ederson is only a year older and Steffen is far from being as good as Courtois, so hardly the exact same situation, but there is precedent.

Gave up a really bad goal to DC in the knockout game and flailed a bit on Royer's second goal at RBA. I guess all keepers give up a bad one every now and then (see Everton v. Liverpool last week), but I'm not totally sold on him yet. He's the USA #1 mostly because no one else has really impressed consistently.
