Interesting quote from Brian McBride on the tourney and it's changing value as a spotlight for young players being scouted

https://www.mlssocce...-u-20-world-cup

It's a shop window, said McBride, [but] there's been tons of conversations I've had with clubs, and they've [said], Listen, the U-20 [World Cup] might get eyes, but the reason a top European clubs going to purchase one of our players is him being able to play at a high level inside MLS, against professionals. And so the value side of it, probably there's an argument that they'll get more money because the player has been playing professional soccer rather than a club taking a chance on a youth player that excelled at a World Cup.

Edelman comes on 71' in the opener vs Ecuador, US just took a 1:0 lead in injury time.

That was a sweet goal by Gomez, good win for them.

Not Edelman related, but a Guatemalan U20 player is listed as an RBNY kid. I am assuming an Academy player, Arian Recinos? Also there is a Rutgers player on the GUA roster as well, Nestor Cabrera, one of ours too?

Recinos played a bit with NYRBII last year. Has talent. Listed as an eligible player for NYRBII this year as well, but hasn't been brought in yet.

Cabrera has been in and out of our system. I think he was with the Queensboro academy before that vanished.

Edelman starting vs Fiji

0-0 at halftime. Apparently they have been attending the Tom Barlow Finishing School

im pretty stunned how bad a game Cade is having.  thought he would be a lot further in his development by now.  Not sure if Luchi has enough time to save him.
