Bigger issue is the one in South Africa because they're not sure if the vaccine would work against that strain.

It was confirmed today that they found this mutation in Saratoga ny
Can't imagine it's not floating around the metro area by now as well.

OY. But no worries there, we're letting vaccines expire! England wants to give the shots months apart, but we can always outbotch the UK.

Issue right now is production and distribution. Alot more money is needed to distribute the vaccines safely. They are delicate since they req freezers to distribute them. I know a few seniors who have tried to get an appointment for a shot but they have not had any luck. Most places already used up their shots.really need these vaccines to get distributed and work, my goodness.
Hopefully the next stimulus addresses this problem.

I got my first shot last night. In case this is helpful to anyone, here's how I got it:
I get the sense that not enough people are getting the vaccine, and if you're in touch with a few medical offices you have a fair chance at getting called in to get a shot, as to not let a batch of vaccine go to waste.

What a mess this process is, but it is what it is.
My advice if you live in NYC (and have a car): plan a vaccine day trip out of the city and use the NYS website really late at night/really early in the morning when web traffic is lighter.
Also, Aqueduct race track has availability mid February and Citi Field should be coming soon.
