Collin has a hip flexor injury, from what STHers said at the golf event 2(?) wks ago.

I asked Hamlett at the Adidas event before the season started, said that Murillo is a RB, even though snippets of his highlight youtube video seem to indicate that he can play CB.

RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.

RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee

Why are we calling for Murillo over Perrinelle? Didn't think Perrinelle did anything particularly wrong against Philly.

Because it was time to move on from him a long time ago.

Perrinelle's career ended when he tore his acl against dc in the 1st leg of the 2015 eastern conference semi's

Poor positioning/ball watching on the second goal. Slow and error-prone in general. He's only starting because the alternative at the moment is apparently Zizzo.

cuz Bilyeu hasn't shown all that well on a consistent basis at CB for the 1st team or reserve team.

He couldn't even properly mark Manneh(vancouver ccl match) on a corner when he's almost a foot bigger than him. He's soft, showing you why he's not a cb and why he remains a LB.

No it wasn't... Perinelle is still a good player in this league. Collin is our best defender without a doubt still, and Long is 2nd.  Perinelle is absolutely good enough.  Can't have 3 star centerbacks anyway.  Long and Collin are already a very good tandem, especially for this league.

And I'm confused how anyone can watch Murillo and suggest centerback for him.  His strength is offensive and with the ball.  His weakness is defensively.  Keep him outside.

----------BWP------------

ROyer--Sacha---Muyl

----Felipe--Adams

Taxi Long DP Murillo

I think we win because home teams are winning like crazy in this league right now... Good teams are losing badly on the road like us and KC for whatever reason and in general, you win if you are at home.

Ehhhhhhhhhh...

Definitely the way I see it.  Long is a good player.  I argued with plenty of people around here before the season started and people didn't want to take Long seriously as a CB who would even matter.

I thought it was clear he was good last season with NYRB 2.  THat said, Collin is better in the air and better at diagnosing players before they start.  Long is a much better passer, and has great distance speed, but Collin has him beat with everything else.

This is one hell of argument for Bruce Arena being the greatest coach in the history of American soccer by a mile. They've disintegrated without him.

Also Onalfo is a shit coach. Dude got fired by D.C. United. How bad does that make him?

It was more that Long was an unknown quantity at this level, at least for me. He didn't even play in the MLS until this season at age 24, so doubts were warranted at the time, I think. He's definitely done very well, surpassing most people's expectations (probably yours and Marsch's as well!).

DP should not be an everyday starter, and he isn't it. Two injuries to guys in front of him (Baah, Collin) are the only reason he is starting. He's okay for a backup, but that's it. With Baah out for the season, we need a CB better than DP as competition for Collin and Long. Hopefully one is coming in the summer.

I know everyone's up in arms about the defense for now, but can we talk about Alex Muyl real quick? A few weeks he spoke about how he wants to shake his reputation as a more industrial player and start contributing more regularly to the attack. Well... what's he waiting for?

I appreciate the two scrappy goals he's put in so far, but the rest of his attacking game still leaves a lot to be desired. He's not taking on defenders, he's not completing crosses, he's not setting up scoring chances for his teammates. And its not because he isn't finding the ball in good positions, he's regularly isolated against the other team's fullback, he's just still making the safe play almost every time. He is at least finding shots a little better than last year, but not by much. When you compare his numbers to what Sam was putting up in 2014/2015, they're not even in the same ballpark.

Especially if Kljestan and BWP are showing signs of slowing down this year, we need other guys to start taking attention off them and making some plays that keep opposing defenses on their toes.

Muyl is like every other run of the mill winger. He's no different than Alexander, Steele, etc.

Doubts were warranted, but if you watched him closely and paid attention to him with RB2, he had everything.  THe speed, athleticism, and his ability to read was good enough.  He was MLS quality for sure, the only question was how good he'd be.  I liked him, but didn't even think he'd be this good.

And in regards to your post Iced, I actually think Muyl has been passing the ball a bit better than he did last year.  Considering he had a broken face through much of training camp, I actually like where Muyl is at..  He's only started 7 games too.  The bigger problem by far is Sacha who has zero freaking goals.  And Royer has to be better around the goal as well.
