Reggie was voicing his disapproval, not trying to decide anything for them.

Was he telling them not to boo? Indirectly?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I wasn't clear.  I meant to say he wasn't telling them how to feel about the anthem or what they should do during the anthem.

The FCD statement does say that they support the right of fans to express themselves in a peaceful manner.
So, I suppose they support the booing! 😁

Booing is certainly more peaceful than death threats, although that is a low bar.

What does that mean?
They are not even on the same continuum.
Unless I Hope You Die! is perceived as a threat to kill.

It means Id rather be booed than have my life threatened.

You do accept that fans have a right to boo, though.
I would prefer that they did not, but it is part of sports.
When sports diverts into politics, emotions run even higher.
Death threats are wrong, but also unrealistic.
Outside of Escobar, has it ever occurred?
Did his killer ever even threaten him?

Fans are allowed to boo.

Of course an actual death from a death threat is unlikely. Doesnt mean theyre comfortable to get andI would still rather get booed than receive one.

Some will point at the rare case where someone
who was threatened is actually subsequently killed,
to justify massive reaction to every threat.

I would still rather get booed than receive one.

Seems reasonable on its face, but some might prefer a
BS anonymous threat to thousands howling at them.

Completely idiotic to play the national anthem before games, that aren't an international competition, anyways.

Good for Reggie. He's right.

Until the NFL made a mockery, money grab for gear and "proceeds" after 9/11 they never had the players trot out on the field for the anthem...
