They were the second amateur team to advance over an MLS side, the first being Dallas Roma FC who beat Chivas a few years back.
Read about Wynalda's team here
They play in La Gran Liga de Oxnard - whose website is mostly in Spanish. Awesome.

Eric Wynalda's men's league team, Cal FC, just knocked Portland out of the tournament.

Your link says Mike Randolph is on that team! I liked him.

I like the humility here. There's a club in Bolivia called "The Strongest", but it seems to me that when you're in a men's league, you should avoid using superlatives.

Beware of the castoffs. It was a goal by Cal FC forward Artur Aghasyan, the first-ever by a United States Adult Soccer Association team against an MLS opponent, in the fifth minute of the first overtime period that gutted an already frustrated crowd and proved to be the only tally of the night.
The Timbers offense, which has struggled throughout the young MLS season, was left stymied by the collection of castoffs from various professional and second-tier leagues assembled by former US national team player Eric Wynalda. Portland fired off 37 shots, including a missed penalty kick by striker Kris Boyd in the 80th minute, but failed to find the back of the net.

No, really...
"Obviously the coin is not favorable to us," Schmid told The Times. "It seems to land on the right side for K.C. and for D.C. United, whose president of one club and coach of the other (club) have been on the executive committee of U.S. Soccer -- surprisingly.
"Being very frank, I think U.S. Soccer is trying to make it difficult for us to win an Open Cup. It's almost like sometimes I get the feeling like they'd rather not see us win it again, for whatever reasons. Maybe they think it dilutes the value of the cup, or they're getting pressure from others that think Seattle can only win it because they're playing at home.
"All that I know is you compare us and D.C., I mean D.C. has played one away game since 2007. We've played a lot more away games with the second-division Sounders and first division. I know we were in Portland twice, just to think of that one. So it's just something that's there. I think they're making it difficult for us, but it's like, 'OK, they can throw obstacles in the way. We're going to try to jump over each of those hurdles,' and I think we can. And maybe it gives us an 'us against the world' mentality a little bit, because I really think that they would prefer for somebody else to win it."

Chivas got through and will play third division Charlotte - Bill's team.
Wynalda's team is scoreless at the start of the second half to the Sounders.
Cal FC is chasing a lot - it's hard to see how they can break through or not eventually break down. But that's soccer.
Edit: Handball - Seattle scores

They overcame a conspiracy between USSoccer and MLS, being forced to go on the road and play an MLS side to defeat San Jose 1-0.
There was a bunch of bad feelings at the end of the match. Gordon got a straight red and at the whistle, the AFKA GAM ran over to the San Jose bench and biffed one of their players in the face.
9000 people on a cold Tuesday night in San Francisco for this one. The players were clearly dialed in. I wish we could make more of the tournament.
As a measure of my hate for Seattle, I was warmly rooting for San Jose in this one.
Edit: The other three MLS sides advance. It will be Chivas (!) at Seattle in one semi Sporting KC away to Philadelphia in the other.
