How do you gain weight/muscle? how do you lose weight?

I hate this question. Fuck you skinny people.

I go about 4 times a week and try and alternate between Cardio and weight lifting.
My leg pressing best was 315 but then I fucked some muscle up around my knee... so i'm back to 210.

For Cardio I'll usually do a warmup on the bike then move to the elliptical for 30/40 minutes
Back to the bike for 30 minutes then the treadmill for 45 and round it out with the stairmaster for 20-27 minutes.

If your gym has a Sauna/SteamRoom/Whirlpool area take advantage. ESPECIALLY the Whirlpool after weights.
Your body will thank you tomorrow.

Edit: Also if you're going to do weights get yourself some gloves. The blisters aren't worth the $20 you save.

Started up again!

what's your routine?
Tuesdays - Arms and Chest, Wednesdays - Back and Triceps, Thursdays - Legs, Friday - Core, Saturday - Soccer

starting strength? GOMAD? 3x5? something else?
Say wha?

How do you gain weight/muscle? how do you lose weight?
Do it!

Set a personal best on a lift?
I love leg pressing, and I've done a lot of heavy lifting on that machine. But since I've stopped, I'm at 450 right now. Bench press - I'm weak...don't ask. But I'm working on my arms.

Discuss all that and more!
I know Isaac, Tucker, Dago, Eden (Spiders Girls), and others have been checking in at the gym, lets set up a LARS day or something.
I have both LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness memberships. If you guys never need a work out buddy, send me a text.

edit:

Dieting kills me, but I know it's important. I just seem to struggle when it comes to that.

I want quads like this, but 3 torn ACL's and other leg injuries won't allow it. I limit myself to 200 on leg press :(

starting strength? GOMAD? 3x5? something else?

I bring extensive knowledge almost completely unalloyed by personal experience.

If you're already somewhat fit and just want to get strong, Starting Strength is a great way to get going

Master the lifts in that system: Squat!, Pull! - (Deadlift & power/hang cleans), Push! (Overhead, Bench). Add in completmentary exercises and you're good for quite awhile. You can probably stay on the linear progression in this system for two years.

Forget about machines. Free weights, dumbbells, kettlebells and body weight exercises are your friends.

Multi-joint rather than isolation is the key.

You don't push and pull machines in real life, you push your body.

Don't train like a body builder - body builders are models whose muscles are their clothing.

If you're not very fit, the Core Performance routines are really good. The auxiliary exercises in that program are really good for gaining control of your body and clearing up imbalances.

Can you give this fatty some tips. All I have been doing is going to Liberty Park in Cerritos after work and doing a walk, jog, run routine for an hour. With a couple days of soccer during the week. I've cut beer down to a minimum and stick to screwdrivers. I also have stayed clear of my nemesis Carl's Jr. Any core essentials to supplement my efforts?

Stay clear of Carl's! Yes it's delicious but deadly but delicious. Damn breakfast burger. Well, they do offer the Six Dollar protein burger. I think it has about 540 cals. I actually just joined a gym last month. One of my buddies is a total gym rat. Routine is similar to Manwich's. We end every workout with abs and some form of cardio/plyometrics or circuit. What's really gets me going at the gym is when "I Love You Like a Love Song" by Selina Gomez and The Scene comes over the speakers. If that doesn't get you super pumped, nothing will. Maybe a LARS dip contest or pushup contest at the next home game?

I'd just like to get the weights of a few guys going into the season and compare it to the end of the season and see how much the collective lost.
A Celebrity LARS fit club, if you will.

I was 197 when the LARS CL started... today I hit 185 lbs. =)

My routine depends on Britt's schedule. If I have to wake up early, I do two a days, 30 mins of cardio before work... 1.5hrs of weights in the afternoon. If I don't have to wake up early, I do a combined workout in the afternoons. Other than that, it's a constantly changing routine.

Carl's Jr. is fine and all, provided you don't feast on that shit multiple times per week. It's the sugars you really have to watch. =( Packing a lunch for work the night before (instead of scrambling and then giving up in the morning) has helped me control my diet.
