It's a hard day for some of us lads in Oz this Sundee. It being Valentines day and all. But this little thinga-my-bob makes up for it somewhat. So if any of you lads are having to negotiate stuff to make arrangements for a fitba match on V-day, perhaps give this a go -

Melbourne take on Sydney in the final game of the season, and this game decides the title. Melbourne need a draw or a win to finish top, Sydney must win. Huge contingent of Melbourne heading up to Sydney.

Victory's Sydney Invasion

EXCLUSIVE: More than 2000 Melbourne Victory fans are tipped to converge on Sydney in what’s set to be the largest ever A-League fan invasion for a regular season game.

Club officials and fan representatives have told au.fourfourtwo.com that at least 2000 fans from the southern capital - plus a few more from all points of the compass - will front up for Sunday's Big Blue blockbuster with Sydney at the SFS.

"It's huge," said Victory fan and "capo" Adam Tennenini. "The end of the season couldn't have been scripted any better with the Premiership plate riding on the result."

Two bays in the away end have already been sold with the visiting fans set to be almost as big in number as Sydney's own hard-core support The Cove.

It should make for a glorious atmosphere - despite predictions of rain for Sunday - with both ends a sea of colour for the biggest game of the regular season.

A home win will secure top spot for Vitezslav Lavicka's men with Victory just needing a draw to retain the silverware they claimed last season, in front of crowd tipped to to be as much as 35,000 and expected to be at least 20-22,000..

The Victory supporter invasion will evoke memories of a similar scenario. J-League power Urawa Red Diamonds brought 1100 fans to the SFS for their midweek Asian Champions League group match against Branko Culina's Sydney in 2007.

That night was hailed as one of the best atmospheres in the history of the sky blues. Sunday could easily eclipse that night for drama and tension.

"It's going to be tough for us with the obvious key players missing but hopefully we can grind out a draw or sneak a win," added Tennenini.

"I think a solitary goal will decide the outcome."

If you look closely at one of the 'stills' you'll see a certain Aussie WB05'er.

That was a decent match I watched last night. Sydney really look it to Melbourne throughout.

Season is not over. As disappointing as it was to lose that game and not finish in 1st spot, we have a finals/playoffs system similar to the MLS.

Here is a pic of our AWAY support in Sydney ...
