Messi is now almost 32 years old. Red Bull New York should sign him for four years at $43.75 million per, plus an option to buy an expansion team for the discounted price of $75 million. Would he be enough to put butts in the RBA seats?

He's probably the only player (maybe 1 out of 2 if you count CR7) that might actually be able to pull a full RBA off.Messi is now almost 32 years old. And I dont care what people say about an over the hill guy who doesnt fit the system. Weve got some great defenders plus CCJ and Davis. We can more than hold our own while Messi goes on walkabout trying to find pockets of space.
But it will never happen because Metro.

People would definitely come to watch Messi.

The guy is still the best player in the world, don't think you can say "because Metro" on this one. He's not going to hundreds of other clubs worldwide either.

RB isn't signing Messi? Well that is some bullshit.
After watching his two goals today, I cannot see why our FO does not think he is worth the transfer fee ...
We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I would go for it in a heart beat despite his age, but never gonna happen.
I think MLS has progressed beyond the stage where they would offer anyone a Beckham-style discount on an expansion team, but if anyone would be the exception it's Messi.

Ives saying that its a non DP deal and that he will be a GAM/TAM player.
Further proof that you can actually built a championship level team without splashing major cash
Now if someone can give me a hand removing this tarp

Do you realize what would happen to ticket prices if they paid any player 43 million per year. Southward season tickets would have to triple at the least and they would still make a loss. The average ticket price in the stadium would have to be $103 to just break even on Messi's salary. Nevermind the transfer fee. $103 * 25,000 seats * 17 home games = 43,775,000. The would only make profit in concessions, playoffs, CCL, and Open Cup tickets. Thats only if they can sell tickets at the average cost of $103 per game and manage to sell them out. Only the biggest NFL teams have average ticket prices that are above $100 per game face value.
