HUGE addition to the team. One of my top 3 HGP candidates (Tolkin and Saramago the others).

Personally, I think he has all the tools to be the next Jozy Altidore on a Tyler Adams type path.

great news, if they can lock in Tolkin this summer it will be successful from a HGP perspective

Good news. He seems like a really promising attacker.

Hope it's a II contract with a later contract to RBNY like Tyler. Those deals are potentially incredibly valuable to the team (Mines could have used one) but I think the team and players got a little scared away from them after all of Lombard's injuries.

On the Red Bulls subreddit somebody posted an excerpt from an RBNN story that said Sowe would have to spend another year or so in the academy before he'd qualify as a homegrown signing. Given that he's performed well on RBNY II, they're just going to fast-track him to USL. Pretty shrewd on the part of the team. I like it.

Also, his brother was rumored to be doing the same (signing out of high school) back in 2014.

Ive followed this thread....which is my favorite, and recently started watching the games.

I dont understand, how you have a top prospect and dont play him 70-90 minutes every game. Like Tolkin. Or move him out of position to left back. It seems to me that it would retard the players growth.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. The article says he joined the RBNY Academy in 2019, so he's only been with RBNY for 6 months or so?  I wonder if he had college plans that he's passing up on now.

transition from defender (assuming CB) to striker. so maybe he'll be the type to not just be a big dude, but can track back and do the little things. we sell him and obvs we'll not spend the money from the sale on players. hahaha

Clear pandering to local market

Just kidding

super excited for this kid - good luck

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

agree somewhat but its tough balancing that with making the kids earn their playing time to be a regular starter.  If they can't handle the pressure of beating out someone in USL good luck on the senior team

This finally filters down to the SL:

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.
