he also signed Muhammed Keita.  Joined July 2017, departed Feb 2018.  ~250k of salary

That was with Marsch's blessing though. Anything from mid 2018 is purely on Hamlett w/o Marsch's involvement, if you think about it. imo, Keita was deemed surplus to requirements once they went after Kaku's signature.

I liked Keita! His fitness was about on par with mine which wasn't ideal, he had some skill though

He spent 14 months without a club after leaving New York and is now employed in the Saudi second division.

A tale of the limits of talent without work.

the Norwegian Freddy Adu

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Can we get Gio as the next coach?

His team nearly lost a 2 goal lead in 3 minutes, so he might be a perfect fit.

I stopped reading at 2 goal lead, that's enough of an improvement for me right now

Ha ha, thanks. Yea, youre probably right that hell be back.

I honestly wouldnt mind the Moneyball approach if we had another Kaku level signing and a solid coach. This isnt baseball where the GM can give the manager a binder that says what to do in every imaginable situation. In soccer, you need a coach to realize his central midfield is getting overwhelmed and make a change. You need a coach that sees whipping in crosses to an undersized Fernandez isnt going to work. Nice guy, but Armas hasnt shown enough chops to coach at the MLS level.
