If anything, I think that is the key thing to take from the video. Slow it down a tad and it becomes manageable and changes the association.slow down
I'm not suggesting we sing it (not at all).

Wonder who has been trying to say that over the years.

Let's start it off with proof that even the crappiest songs can work if they're sung with passion and the right attitude.
also seems to not hurt having people assigned to do harmonies as well

There have been attempts before, long ago. It's not a bad idea as long as they stick to the first verse, and it's sung slowly. Why don't we sing Sweet Home Chicago after games? Everyone knows it already. I think it would sound pretty good, too.
The ideal time would be right after the standard "WE LOVE YOU FIRE".

I agree. Just sing the first two parts and call it a day. I think it could sound really good, and EVERYONE knows this song, even people outside of the Section.

during the song, there are clear "call and response" portions where I think it would really help if the capo visually split the two sections (117 and 118) to direct who does the "call" and who does the "response".
for example:
117: Our Chi-ca-go
118: (our Chi-ca-go)
117: We love you so
118: (we love you so)
117: We will al-ways fol-low an-y-where you go
118: (where you go)
117: Fire here
118: (Fire here)
117: Fire there
118: (Fire there)
117: For the Fi-re we will tra-vel an-y-where
118: (an-y-where)
or whatever order the capo wants to do it in. hopefully that makes sense and once again, that's just a humble suggestion.

i have a (humble) suggestion for when we do Urbs in Horto Magico.
There are lots of words in Urbs in Horto...that's always been an issue. Most of the other chants can be picked up by listening for just a verse or two. I've wondered before if having some sort of lyric board might help, something like a battery powered programmable LED message board that the Capo can adjust to show the lyrics to whatever we're singing. I'm not sure if it's feasible or even worth the trouble.

The best option is to get people to come out to watch parties and practice there.

Leave that hokey bullshit to the stadium DJ.
