Not Komba, but wasn't his departu re from the Impact billed as a "parting of ways?" I recall them trying to spin it as amicable.

Then I remember hearing he wanted to travel the world with his family, so he took a break from coaching.

Of course, this could all be PR.

I know that he did take at least a six month sabbatical to travel the world.  I remember he met up with Kljestan at Anderlecht while he was traveling.  (I follow Anderlecht, hence knowing that tidbit).

He was almost universally viewed as having gotten fucked over by Joey Saputo.

What does the rest of the league think of Jason Kreis?  Mike Petke?

We can play this game all day - there are only 20 manager positions open in MLS, some of the teams prefer foreign managers, and relative to other leagues in the world, there's very little managerial turnover.  The way things are structured, there are always going to be decent managers who are out of work in this league.

To your point, there have only been 3 coaching vacancies in MLS since Petke was fired.  One of them he interviewed for but didn't get, and in the other the midseason interim replacement got the job.  the 3rd was boy city which had their guy earmarked all along.

Houston fired a coach midseason this year, and the interim guy is still in the position.

So its not like there have been a boatload of opportunities and he's been slighted.  He had an interview for the one job he might have been able to get.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

I think it's safe to assume Marsch would have been fired if he didn't agree to part ways with Montreal. And I remember we him saying somewhere he was surprised he was out of coaching so long.

no beat writer/blogger will talk about the behind the scenes.

they refuse to do so.

This. When I worked with the club, I watched two writers under two different GMs nearly get their access cut off. Both had inside information and leaked it early. Both GMs wanted their media credentials taken away.

There are a handful of posters on here that are privy to some information that wouldn't repeat it.

Sources are very difficult to come by and instill trust. One slip can destroy a career.
