No disagreement there. We're talking a couple of million a year, which would be a rounding error to RB.

Artem Dzyuba ... would smash MLS.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Can we get Big Hass back? In addition to the roster need, I was really looking forward to making a giant cardboard avocado with his number on it to hold up at games.

We need a DP forward. Royer is a warrior and should definitely be one of the forwards but we have to add at least 1 DP and forward is the right position.

Yup, can't wait to see which English League One team provides us with our new DP striker.

Point is valid. But Toney isnt some regular League One schmoe, was on Newcastles books, has been prolific, and is on the radar of some big clubs.

No chance for him though, they wont pay the $$.

Could we trade for Mason Toye from Minny as they just added a DP forward Luis Amarillo (would rather a DP forward ourselves but just wondering) and have another back up ?
Of course the reason Im posting is the DP fwd just pulled up with adductor and Toye is starting

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Both Mario Gotze and Andre Schurrle are out of contract.  Schurrle is a 29 year old winger; Gotze is 28 and plays attacking midfield/striker.  Both were under contract with Dortmund; Gotze's contract ran out without an extension and Schurrle and the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract a year early.

LOL

Goetze would be a great considering no more Josh Sims, 4222 and knows how to press.

Heck who needs a DP forward if Goetze is creating 30 chances a game.

sadly have to agree on RBNY would say too old and expensive.  Likely land at some Champions League club or since he is World Cup winner and multi time Bundesliga winner then maybe Inter MIA......

Gotze is interesting, he's been less and less effective as he's entered his prime.  Is that a result of motivation?  Pressure?  Something else?  If it's motivation, can't see how that gets better in MLS.  If it's the result of pressure from being Germany's Gold Boy, you could see him coming to the US and tearing it up.  Red Bull won't spend the money, but even if they were, I might go for something less risky.

I think Schurrle, on the other hand, is a perfect fit for MLS.  He's in that second tier of Germany National Team talent, never having been pegged as the next big thing.  He would slot in nicely on this team.  He won't though, because "too old and expensive for RBNY".

That should honestly be included in the title of this thread.

Id wager its a pretty safe assumption that 90% of our signings are going to be <24,25,26 years old. 100% of them wont be of the caliber of Gotze or Schurrle.

Jensen was an anomaly and 28 is relatively young for a GK

In the somewhat recent past: Royer was 26 when he signed, Tim Parker was 24-25 when they traded for him, Jørgensen 18, Egbo 22, Pendant 23, Sims 22, Yearwood 20.
