Had a salary of 175,000 at the beginning of the year according to the MLS players union.

Don't think that this guy would cost too much.

Related question, do players still get paid for their contract even if they get waived?  For example, is he still getting the full 175,000 from Columbus for this year.

I believe so because the contract is with the league.  Getting waived just means that he's no longer tied to Columbus.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

what?

no relation at all

Duka is an accidental potential signing

I was under the impression he was a CM/DM for some reason.

So, yeah, I have no idea what I'm talking about and my post is stupid.

Oh ok, so I guess if we signed him, it would be for that same cap hit/contract

I don't think we have to sign him for what Columbus was paying. And so our cap hit would only be what we're actual paying.

We'll sign him for a backloaded contract, like pays only 90k this year with an option for additional years at much higher rates. Then, he'll have an epic year and get 10 assists in the second half of the season and we still won't pick up his additional years.

He is a good player. I think he is an upgrade over grella. Could be sasha's back up

Duka Lade CB pairing will DOMINATE

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Having a deep bench will get you into the playoffs.  If we just keep making bench upgrades, we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs.

Transfer deadline is today. Not sure if this affects Duka since he is currently without a club?

It doesn't as he is out of contract. Keep in mind, MLS teams can still trade (I believe) within the league for another month or so (give or take).

If RBNY were to theoretically offer him a minimum contract, then Columbus would have to pick up the difference of the original deal. But only what RBNY pays is against this year's salary cap.

So if rbny sign him, it could theoretically prevent columbus from signing someone else since cap space will be used?
