Porter will now go to Cinci ...

Currently a USL franchise, with a manager.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

But we all know they aren't going to be a USL franchise for much longer and it's a given they are headed to MLS. The league isn't saying no to a market averaging like 38k a game in USL, they aren't THAT stupid.
Let's Go Buffalo!!!

Someone is still going to have to come up with that entry fee. What is it up to, $200 Million?

I heard that the sun will shine bright on their new Kentucky home (assuming they don't get a stadium in Cincy proper).

How will the fan base react to a suburban stadium? When we were there for the USOC semi, the area around the stadium was bustling. Can that atmosphere be re-created outside the city? GS & NE suggest otherwise. Same for CHI & Dallas.

GS = Giants Stadium
We moved from a desolate sports complex built over a swamp, to an urban arena.
Harrison is not mid-town Manhattan, but it is certainly an improvement over the far reaches of East Rutherford.

To be honest, the Newport KY site for the proposed stadium is way more urban than the "city" site in Oakley, Cincinnati. It's a mile and a half from Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati to the stadium site, with a walk over a bridge. To get to the Oakley site, which is six miles from Fountain Square, means driving out to what's basically an industrial park with a Costco.

Yeah, the Oakley site isn’t that glamorous… it’s a former industrial side somewhat removed from the actual Oakley neighborhood. Also, the ownership is trying to sneak the infrastructure support package trough a city council vote without much public debate or time for review. It’s kinda shady…

Fuck DC.

Here's a question: if they are going to draw 40k a game like Atlanta and Seattle why can't they play at Paul Brown Stadium? Why should taxpayers fund a stadium that isn't needed except in Don Garber's worthless mind?

Yeah, it's disconcerting to see that both the county and city have given their blessings to project that is going to take away much-needed funds for services in an already cash-strapped area.

Cincinnatians are still stinging from the two stadiums we built in the late 1990s/early 2000s and adding a third - even just partially footing the bill - I think is not the smartest allocation of funds.

Also, FCC should be producing better USL results for all that they are asking of Cincinnati and Hamilton County... C'mon, the Bengals and the Reds already fulfill our quota for sub-par teams. Anyways, FCC's current home is arguably the best stadium out there. (Well, aside from the fact that they don't own it and that poses a multitude of problems for them.)

Fuck DC.

The county attorney told the commission that the current lease with the Bengals makes PBS unusable by anyone else. Despite the fact that NFL stadiums are used for 10 events per year.

No other events can occur there? Or, the Bengals control usage and have imposed oppressive rents or conditions?
