#1418657 The return of... Fabio?

I liked Fabio. If we bring him back, then I want him here for preseason or else what is the point.

he also probably realized that he continued dribbling the way he was doing at the beginning of the season that he will get hurt. teams were going after him.

Montreal did such a smart move brining in Kei Kamara. teams gave up on him since he is 38. he accepted his role as a back up forward and  scored 8 goals and 7 assists.

this is the type of band aid move we needed to do just in case klimala failed. its okay to give kids and high potential guy chances but you also need to have a vet to help guide the ship when things get rough. now, we are just suffering.

Thats kind of my point. Very few people on this board give a pass for summer signings not working, but if its Bob Bradley, suddenly there wasnt enough time for them to make a difference.

Our roster is poorly constructed because we have no viable forwards. Given that this was very evident going into the summer and we still didnt make a move is ridiculous. The fact that Struber still has us in the position he does is a testament to him as a coach.

I just dont think Bradley would have done as well. Lets not forget his LAFC team missed the playoffs last year too. I know they had injuries, but Strubers dealt with injured players too.

My post was directed to the few (or maybe one) that lamented Bob went to TFC instead of here.

insigne and bernardeschi has been great pick ups. jesus jimenez looks decent. Kaye and Henry were also good pick ups.

the issue with TFC is that they have almost a brand new team. i dont think you can judge him this season since there has been so much turn over. you have to give him another season to see if this team is heading in the right direction.

what messed him up was the salcedo signing. it didnt look like he wanted to be there.  and he took too long to dump other high salary players like puzuelo

Don't forget the Ecuadorian we signed to RBNY II!

Barlow will stay here forever. Well, until he hits the dreaded 30.

Barlow should be the emergency 4th forward but spend most of his time with rb 2 as the vet who pushes these kids to get better.

Can we bring Kaku back? At least he hit other teams fans in the face instead of our own.

Well, atleast yearwood tried to apologize after the hit. It was a dumb mistake and he sincerely looked like he didnt mean to hit them. I hope red bull contacts them and tries to make things right.

Kaku on the other hand was a jerk

Anyone else feel like Manoel basically just channeled Klimala? Good movement off the ball, some good linkup, and some big ol' whiffs at the end of it all.

I'll fight the urge to draw any sweeping conclusions based on his debut. But at minimum, the dude is a clear upgrade over Barlow for the rest of the season. Who, btw, has been awful lately even by his standards. Truly looks like a headless chicken out there

there is some potential there but he needs to improve his fitness. he already looks better than Barlow.

#1417113 Some people are pessemistic

Posted by elf on 30 August 2022 - 06:51 AM

The strange part is that we are E4 with the third worst home record in MLS, due to the best away record.
The sad part is that our FO probably views this as another successful season of low-budget soccer.
Its philosophy of not spending works in a league full of lousy teams who trip over each other in futility.
So, making the playoffs for several consecutive years somehow justifies our commitment to mediocrity.
It is enough to make more STHs cancel.
Meanwhile, RBS have won 9 consecutive league titles.

making the playoffs is something to celebrate. imagine being cincy, chicago or miami who have struggled to make it.

having a low budget team is also okay as long as the team is performing.

what is not okay is seeing that something is not working like our forward situation and doing nothing about it. what is not okay is letting guys leave on free transfer when the team could have raised money and reinvested those funds.

what is not okay is claim that you want to train and develop players but you dont field a complete reserve team and lose u18 prospects to europe.

this is not a coaching issue but a management issue. whoever is responsible for this needs to be let go.

Casseres is def moving on. Would be weird for the team to get in the same situation like Long, and he walks away for nothing. A lot of moves need to happen in Jan, considering there'll be ~6 spots on the roster vacated by loanees who returned home.

yeah, if a player does not want to stay, we should get something for them.

Losing davis and potential long on a free is poor asset management. We need allocation money to improve the squad.

#1416692 How serious is the hamstring injury to Serge Ngoma?

Posted by elf on 22 August 2022 - 09:02 PM

i want them to slowly bring him back so that he can be ready for the playoffs. he adds a different look to our offense.

#1416691 Will Barlow play in every game?

Posted by elf on 22 August 2022 - 09:00 PM

I don't think either Manoel or Pasher take Barlow's place. They are both wingers, not strikers. (Alright, maybe Barlow is not exactly a striker either...)

i thought he was our defensive forward. :-D

#1415566 Edwards going back to/from Stoke

Posted by elf on 07 August 2022 - 12:27 PM

With the loss of Edwards and gain of Duncan being close to a wash, this deadline was a total disaster considering the salary we got rid of and the fact that we made one addition which is a speculative signing to say the least.

Have to figure Struber understands now that there is no winning with this team.

I wouldnt say it's a wash. Edward's is a huge loss.

Any protest needs to be focused. It needs to be about the product on the pitch.  Not about RBNY being a farm team.  Not about RBNY being just an advertisement. Not about RBNY firing Petke.

They havent done enough to win a Shield since Marsch left. And they dont use all the tools available to give us the best shot at winning MLS Cup. Open DP slots, limited veteran leadership, etc.

Farm teams fill out the roster with prospects

Competitive teams fill out there roster with talent

Fusion teams have a competitive roster with high level prospects

Incompetent teams dont even fill out the roster spots
